DETROIT - The Local 4 newsroom has been flooded with calls and emails from people reporting problems with their Michigan EBT Food stamp card.
Viewers say they attempted to use their Bridge Card but the system is not working and they are left unable to purchase groceries.
Local 4 contacted the Michigan Department of Human Services; a spokesperson says the issue with client cards is not on the DHS end.
The spokesperson says the issues are believed to stem from a system update on the retailer's side. DHS says the issues are widespread but say they are expecting to correct the problem quickly.
Similar issues have been reported in other states.
Oklahoma's KFOR News Channel 4 reports the system failure is the result of a power outage at a Xerox facility. Xerox is the vendor for the EBT systems for many states.
The issue is not related to the government shutdown as many callers have feared.
well, the good part is that if there is no bread, there is always cake
Went to the market today to get some seafood salad, and noticed a lot of restocking of un purchased items.
Asked why, and they said food stamp cards aren’t working.
Checked two other markets, same story.
One clerk told me it’s the whole state of California.
Having seeing it mentioned on FR about other states, I told him no, it’s the whole country and that Obama voters are going to be quite mad as that is the way he “paid” them to vote for him.
The clerk was not amused.
Other workers at other markets were mad at dems and Obama, the people in a lot of cases know who is causing this.
One store worker said they are going to cut off WIC (Women, Infants, and Children—and lazy surfers like the one interviewed on TV who was buying lobster for his friends), food for women from soon to be mothers to those with small children.
Lots of restocking at all the markets, I imagine the refrigerated and frozen food my cause some problems for those with money to buy them after they sit in a cart for a long time before getting restocked.
I meant the other 6 people in line besides you.
I feel bad for the cashiers at the grocery stores! They likely have heard lots of nasty language and threats today.
Whatever the hell she did, she seemed to be on drugs and held up a line of people for about 5 minutes. I almost wanted to stop her and ask her to thank the 7 people in line for paying for her groceries.
publix generally will credit you EBT if bought on FS. not give money back. i am surprised.
Must have forgot the rice and beans
