DETROIT - The Local 4 newsroom has been flooded with calls and emails from people reporting problems with their Michigan EBT Food stamp card.
Viewers say they attempted to use their Bridge Card but the system is not working and they are left unable to purchase groceries.
Local 4 contacted the Michigan Department of Human Services; a spokesperson says the issue with client cards is not on the DHS end.
The spokesperson says the issues are believed to stem from a system update on the retailer's side. DHS says the issues are widespread but say they are expecting to correct the problem quickly.
Similar issues have been reported in other states.
Oklahoma's KFOR News Channel 4 reports the system failure is the result of a power outage at a Xerox facility. Xerox is the vendor for the EBT systems for many states.
The issue is not related to the government shutdown as many callers have feared.
That’s from the Brunswick (GA) newspaper in my neck of the woods!
I know just what you’re talking about. I’ve had similar experiences. Each time I’ve witnessed an attitude and display of entitlement that is downright disgusting.
That twitter link is dam’ funny! I wouldn’t go to a Wal-mart in the hood about now, though! LOL
They can’t return SNAP-purchased food for cash, if that’s what you’re thinking.
What are the best twitter hashtags to search?
I was just at Meijers in Columbus Ohio, and they were putting up signs at the self serve registers about EBT cards not working.
Does anybody know how much money is siphoned from hard-working honest productive people and piped to indolent democrat voters?
I’ll bet it’s 30% on average of our earnings.
I just searched for ‘food stamps’
I didn’t do any hashtags
As long as you get "permission" to fish.
One must first purchase a fishing license and/or specific permits to fish from the overlords.
If you are using a watercraft to fish from, you must purchase additional license, permits, insurance, inspections, etc. from overlords.
All equipment, safety devices, fuel and other devices aboard the watercraft must be approved by the overlords.
If you will be transporting the watercraft by vehicle, you must purchase licenses, permits, insurance, insections, etc from overlords.
You may only fish in those spaces that are designated by the overlords.
You must NOT take certain fish or fish that do not meet overlords regulations.
You must not take fish over the limit set by the overlords.
If regulations are found to be broken, overlords will access fines far more than license or revoke fishing license altogether.
Enjoy your meal.
I know people who have gone shopping with an EBT person and paid them 2 to 1 cash for the food.
This happens all the time.
I had a funny thought. Wouldn’t it be great if the non-productive class had to choose one: free food, free medical, or free Obamaphones?
There was a planned outage in FL sometime last month but people were warned ahead of time, AFAIK.
This is something different (”power outage at Xerox”) and it has affected states across the country.
Yep. Government is always getting in the way.
You have an apple tree and I have a quarter
You would rather the quarter than an apple
I would rather have the apple than the quarter
A trade that makes us both happy
Seems simple enough until the government forces you to get a farming license, a health inspection, and to sell your products only to retail outlets.
Before its all over with, nobody is happy
I just back from grocery shopping in Milford, Ohio and there were signs on the doors saying EBT system wasn’t working.
lol
Wow!!
Sure, but that has nothing to do with my comment or the OP’s situation.
I guess there might be the odd situation where a person could return snap food without a receipt and get a refund out of the retailer’s good will, but the store is paying twice for that and it isn’t going to work very many times.
Just saw a sign at my local Kroger: “EBT Down. Sorry” in north Louisiana.
I guess this is all over the country.
What’s the big surprise? Congress, including Republicans, removed any asset test from Food Stamp (SNAP) qualifications in 2008. Some states implement it that way and others don’t.
