Today in History: West Saved from Islam at Battle of Tours (yesterday actually)

In 711, the Muslims made their fateful crossing of the straits of Gibraltar, landing on European soil. Upon disembarkation, the leader of the Muslims, Tariq bin Zayid, ordered the Islamic fleet burned, explaining that “We have not come here to return. Either we conquer and establish ourselves here, or we perish.”

This famous Tariq anecdote—often reminisced by modern day jihadis—highlights the jihadi nature of the Umayyad caliphate (661-750), the superpower of its day. Indeed, as most historians have acknowledged, the Umayyad caliphate was the “Jihadi-State” par excellence. Its very existence was coterminous with its conquests. Its legitimacy as “viceroy” of Allah was based on subjugating lands in the name of Allah.

Once on European ground, the depredations continued unabated. Writes one Arab chronicler regarding the Muslim northern advance past the Pyrenees: “Full of wrath and pride” the Muslims “went through all places like a desolating storm. Prosperity made those warriors insatiable… everything gave way to their scimitars, the robbers of lives.” Even far off English anchorite, the contemporary, the venerable, Bede, wrote, “A plague of Saracens wrought wretched devastation and slaughter upon Gaul.”

Strange anecdotes also find their way in the chroniclers’ accounts during this time. Muslim historian Abd al-Hakem reports that, after landing on an island off Iberia, one of Tariq’s squadrons discovered that the only inhabitants were vinedressers. “They made them prisoners. After that, they took one of the vinedressers, slaughtered him, cut him into pieces, and boiled him, while the rest of the companions looked on.” This incident resulted in a rumor that Muslims feast on human flesh. (Nearly 1300 years later, in the year 2013, a Muslim jihadi ate the organs of his slain enemy to surrounding cries of “Allahu Akbar”.)

The Strategy of Islam to Infiltrate and Dominate a Host Population

- They seek out nations that have basic social freedoms or areas that our depressed or void of law

- They immigrate to these areas using the laws of freedom or take advantage of those in depressed areas by offering the basic essentials of life

- Once they have merged in the host country, Islam demands respect for its customs by the host population

- They immediately begin to import their own laws into the host population

- They use the “minority” radicals to spread fear among the host population and enforce Islam’s code

- They begin to populate large numbers of Muslims through immigration and birth in the host nation

- They do a show of force through large gatherings when outnumbered by the host population and center themselves in urban areas

- When outnumbered, they will appear as the victim. When they obtain the majority, they become the aggressor

- Once they gain the majority, they strike down the host population or drive them out by use of the “minority” radicals and seize what were the host population properties

- Once Muslims move into an area, they spread into the social fabric through the establishment of mosques, by the economic through stores in every part of the city to bring Muslims into areas once dominated by only the host population, the use the political sphere to get Muslims elected into local, then state, then federal offices by sheer numbers in order to take over the entire social, economic, and political host through the protection of what is defined as a religion

It more commonly fits the definition of a virus: a small infectious agent that can replicate only inside the living cells of organisms. Most viruses are too small to be seen directly with a light microscope. Viruses infect all types of organisms...

Thanks also to the Byzantine Empire for keeping Muslims out of eastern Europe all those years.

Charles Martel was my 39th Great Grandfather based upon records from Ancestry.com (which are always questionable to validation when you get that far back).

Not gimps...jihadis (thinking Obama and Brennan specifically).

Not sure about King Ralph. They say we don’t pick our ancestors. My ancestor (John Billington) on the Mayflower was the first person executed in the new world after he committed murder on a fellow pilgrim.

Maybe his fellow Pilgrim had it coming. :-)

It is too bad that we do not realize how we have empowered the muslims by buying oil from OPEC since the 1970’s.

If there was one battle I could have been at, this would have been the one. Massive line of huge, pissed off Northmen, hacking those SOBs to pieces. Charles Martel- we salute you. You bought us @1400 years before we will become undone from within.

It is interesting stuff.

The thing about it is though, we have so many ancestors (e.g., 8 great-grandparents, 16 great-great-grandparents) that the contribution of any one is pretty small (vanishingly so even as close as the Pilgrims).

What I like more is DNA studies of population groups, where they came from, how they changed, etc.

Very interesting link. I’d suspected as much, just given the exponential number of ancestors we all have, but I didn’t have it quantified like the article does.

Tours was an Epic Battle. It was not to be topped until Vienna in 1683.

Thanks. That’s a great article. One of the problems with ancestry.com is there’s a great deal of cut and paste and you see the same errors again and again.
