New Senate GOP plan would raise debt-limit until after 2014 election (3 women to Obama's side)

A trio of centrist Senate Republicans is pushing a plan to reopen the government for six months, extend the debt ceiling until Jan. 31, 2014 and make reforms to ObamaCare.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is spearheading the proposal along with Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska).

It would address Tea-Party conservatives concerns over Medicare by delaying the medical device tax for two years and creating an income verification program under the Affordable Care Act to ensure only eligible individuals receive subsidies on the insurance exchanges.

The delay of the Medical Device Tax would be paid for by extending pension smoothing provisions contained in the highway transportation bill, MAP-21, that Congress passed in 2012. Pension smoothing allows the government to spread out pension losses over extended time periods.

Many Republicans, however, called for a full repeal of the tax.....

It's the lobbyists that are focused on repeal of the medical device tax!

Again, shirking their responsibilities for good governance. The choices we make America...

Always follow the money.

This entire thing is shamefull. I regret we even have a government as the elected government is SUPPOSED to do what is best for the country first and represent their constituents second to that. There is no third except in the land of cash is king now.

Yeah...let’s kick the can down the road for the 545,682th time. Let’s ignore impending financial armageddon, the destruction of the United States and the end of Western Civilization. We’ve got politics to play. Besides, Obama has a tee time this afternoon.

I would have thought a debt limit was a dollar amount, not a time span.

Collins and Murkowski are carrying water for the Dems, as usual. No surprise there. But Ayotte has now joined them and this trio is clearly helping out the Dems.

I called Ayotte’s office to let her know that she isn’t fooling anyone anymore.

And if this doesn’t work, McCain will propose a new deal: Obama will get absolutely everything he’s been demanding and in exchange he will promise not to call the republicans names. McCain will also get to ride in the cockpit of Air Force 1 and ring the siren !

Of course, we certainly can’t have the rats be held accountable for their lousy policies, at least not prior to Nov ‘14 because it just wouldn’t be ‘fair’.

These senators are attempting to usurp the House’s primary role in fiscal legislation. It is time for the GOP House to tell them to butt out - and it’s time for us to call our GOP senators and tell them in no uncertain terms that we expect them to support the House GOP.

I don’t get all the drama. Why don’t the rhino’s all just drop their collective drawers bend over and let the commie branch of the demon party have their way. Is this some sick form of foreplay theater? Really!

Since collins is pushing a plan that will cost McConnell his election and keep Republicans the minority Senate party.

One can only assume that’s what she wants: the Minority Leader position vacant.

The first woman Minority Leader!
Oh won’t she and Harry and the media be happy with that.

“.....So the red flag was already raised about Ayotte, both by Palin and NR, in that case for abandonment of well-stated conservative principle on immigration in the name of “bipartisanship” — a word specifically cited by Buckley as “the most alarming single danger to the American political system.” With no less than Governor Palin herself accusing Ayotte of having gone back on principle.

Now come these multiples of reports of a “lynch mob” from people “inside the room” of that Republican-Senators-only lunch. Tellingly the tale comes from senators who agreed with Ayotte and couldn’t wait to alert the media — and not just any media but the New York Times (!!) — of her performance. Why? Because they thought making it known of a GOP Senate lynch mob going after Cruz and Lee helped the cause they share with her. Ayotte was “furious” with Cruz, these GOP senators proclaimed. Furious because conservative groups were criticizing Ayotte for opposing Cruz and Lee in their efforts to both end Obamacare and begin the move to restore fiscal sanity to America.

What does this behavior of Ayotte’s say? What does it say about the other named GOP senators — Indiana’s Dan Coats and Wisconsin’s Ron Johnson — in the story? Not to mention those who were not mentioned but were part of what the paper called the “lynch mob” that was out for Cruz and Lee? What does it telegraph?

Simply put, this behavior screams; “It’s all about ME!!!”

Forget about principle. Forget about campaign promises. Forget that Ayotte “Granite Grizzly” business and Palin’s description of Ayotte being a “true conservative.” It’s all about attacks on Kelly Ayotte — by conservatives.......”
