In addition to ending the shutdown and increasing the debt limit, under the proposal Congress and the White House would explore ways to ease across-the-board federal budget cuts that began taking effect a year ago, and replace at least part of them with benefit-program curbs that have been included in recent presidential budgets. Officials who described the approach did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to discuss private conversations.
With the weekend approaching, and the deadline for raising the debt limit five days away, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said it was time to "put this hysterical talk of default behind us and instead start talking about finding solutions to the problems."
McConnell and Senate Republicans met with Obama at the White House, a session that lasted about 90 minutes. Returning to the Capitol, GOP lawmakers huddled with McConnell, who told reporters, "Now we're back here to actually work on trying to get a solution on a bipartisan basis."

The best way for it to commit suicide is to make it mandatory for Congress...Let them Go to the website and sign themselves up............It will be dead in a week!!
We should really be pushing that hard!!....they represent us...not rule us...If its good for us..should be good for them
drudge is saying ‘deal near’. short detail list looks like bammy gets everything he wants.
it may appear boner wants to cave in now and get it over with.
“...I got a request for funds from the RNC today and the letter came from John McCain. I laughed my butt off. They just dont get it yet.....”
When I get those, I fill em with heavy washers and mail it back on their postage account so they have to pay the extra postage.....screw the traitorous bassturds.
IF it ain’t a tea party candidate, I refuse to vote R.
So if true, not just a cave, but what's with the giving the POS a gift of the sequester to boot?
Boy do republicans suck.
Give up everything and then even add a bonus free give up... FOR NOTHING IN RETURN....NOTHING!
Not true. He got medi-care means testing. That is UGE.
/s (as if I needed to do that)
God forgive me but I hope something truly horrible happens to that man.
if the “deal” is what they say it is.. they need to get a new poker face. They promise to dear leader, everything he desires for the possibility that he will think about maybe considering some ambiguously worded reduction in future spending (which has no control over) in return. and they then promise not to address the anvil that dear leader has dropped on the heads of the American taxpayers.
If I were him, I’d walk away too and tell Boehner to bring his shine box.
I know what you mean, but losing the House WOULD be catastrophic. I know, I know, the House looks pretty worthless about now. But imagine what democrats could pass if they had both branches of Congress and the presidency. It’s frightening where we are now....I can only imagine how much more frightening it would get.
And so what? Who cares about the fate of the empty suits?
Are they unhappy? They get to wear suits!
The stalking horse has served its purpose, and the people's interest is violated. In the face of mortal danger, the power and authority of the people remains unexercised. The parasites will gorge on our carcasses, because you and I do nothing.
But let me tell you something: I plan to continue doing nothing. I'm enjoying my business casual shirts, upscale fast food, and the pride of playing a great video game called "Internet". So it's all up to you, buddy.
The song bird of Hanoi.
We don't have to imagine.
We have Obamacare.
Mccain looks like he wants to smash Cruz’s head in.
I use to vote for the "moderate" Pubs because I bought in to this line of thinking. However, if the surrender on the shut down turns out to be what we're reading what's the point in supporting those who not only won't fight for us, but undermine those that will.
Right now the deal appears to be:
1. repudiation of sequester cuts (just a cut in growth, not actual cuts)
2. No real changes to obamacare. Congress gets special treatment and no delay for individuals.
3. Entitlement reform will get blamed on the Pubs and help secure the senior vote for the Rats in 2014.
4. Tax increases under the guise of "tax reform".
5. No fundamental change in spending.
If this is what happens I know I will let my Pub office know to stop calling us to volunteer to be election judges, work phone banks and canvass the district. My wife and I have done these things for years. Also, the dollars I donate will go to Tea Party candidates only and if they aren't on the ballot I won't support a Pub.
If Bohner falls for this deal he will have guaranteed losses of seats in the House and probably given Hillary the presidency in 2016.
Yes, the deal is pathetic. Last I checked on Drudge, Obama said, no thanks.
....at least you’re still going to support Tea Party candidates. Glad to hear you’re still going to be engaged.
