At the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, deputies initially suspected both men were drunk.

Then-Capt. Glenn Ryder, who still works for the sheriff's office, said he laughed at the report, but met with the men. Parker and Hickson stuck to their story.

After the formal interview, deputies left Hickson and Parker together in a room with a hidden tape recorder, hoping to catch them in a lie.

"Me and the other investigator got up and left to let them talk, to see if they were going to say, `Well, we got them fooled,' but they didn't," Ryder said. "They were really concerned."

On the tape, Hickson tells Parker, "It scared me to death too, son. You can't get over it in a lifetime. Jesus Christ have mercy."

"I don't know what happened to them," Ryder said. "I wasn't there with them, but I know you don't fake fear, and they were fearful. They were fearful."

The next afternoon, the story was splashed across the front pages of newspapers in Pascagoula and Gulfport. Overnight, Pascagoula became a magnet for news reporters and UFO investigators.

I don't argue there is no such thing as alien life(the universe is of an infinitive nature) but to think that an species that has to be so intelligent to overcome all the difficulties of space and time just to arrive here, would come just to bore round holes in cattle, or give anal probes to "Bubba" and his half witted cousin outside of BumF**k, USA or use them as intermediates to say "Hello, we heeeeere!"is wildly beyond belief.

I need hard proof, not fuzzy pictures or the half remembered tales of events long ago.

An chunk of wreckage(I'm told there's several sites around the world) that no earth bound being could create would do nicely.

Seems to me that we should pay much more attention to the credibility of the guy who saw the UFO.

I give it the "credibility it deserves.

.... My father was a retired Air Force pilot and used to tell me of some very peculiar stuff that he saw .... My son has done 3 tours in Iraq and is now at an undisclosed location in the ME .... He has access to the latest and greatest military grade night vision technology out there .... he says when he gets bored at night he sometimes takes his night vision apparatus out and watches the fireworks in the sky .... including strange unexplainable events that him and his buddies have seen. I used to make fun of a lot of this stuff until one night when I was at a youth camp with my family and about 50 youth in the mountains .... while singing campfire songs in front of a huge bonfire ...... Ironically ...... in the midst of singing "She'll be Commin' Round the Mountain" ..... we all looked up and witnessed a huge triangular shaped piece of machinery very slowly move overhead blocking out the starfield behind it covering about a quarter of the sky as it slowly passed overhead.

Like I say .... I used to make fun of those little green men stories ... and heck, because I am a sceptic still do, but what we all saw that night was a huge piece of machinery from somewhere. My guess is ... undisclosed technology without those little green men. But it was quite curious to witness such a thing! I guess since it was quite unidentified that it does qualify as a so called UFO .... so I suppose they really do exist in my opinion.

BTW .... there was zero drinking, and zero drugs being used at that religious youth camp!

Maybe then they’ll be able to visit without us killing them.

I think that if they've mastered interstellar travel, they have neither good nor bad intentions for us. "Uninterest" would be my likeliest assumption.

For instance, you might be aware of the ants in your driveway, but you're not going to try to sit down and have a conversation with them.

So long as the alien equivalent of an 8-year-old with a magnifying glass doesn't come along, we'll be fine. :-)
