Cruz: Send search team if I dont return from White House By Cameron Joseph - 10/11/13 10:53 AM ET
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joked that he might not be seen again after Fridays meeting with President Obama at the White House.
"After leaving here, I'm going to be going to the White House," he said at the Values Voter Summit of religious conservative activists. "I will make a request. If I'm never seen again, please send a search and rescue team. I very much hope I don't wake up tomorrow morning among the Syrian rebels."
The line drew big laughs from the activist crowd, which ate up his attacks on the Obama administration and establishment conservatives.
Members of the crowd also whooped when he mentioned heading to the White House, a sign many want to see him run for president.
Senate Republicans are meeting with Obama Friday to discuss how to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the government. Obama invited every member of the Senate Republican Conference to the meeting, including Cruz.
Cruz was one of the driving forces behind the call to defund ObamaCare in a government funding bill, which helped cause the shutdown.
The senator's poll numbers have taken a hit amid the shutdown fight. A Gallup survey released Thursday showed that 26 percent have a favorable view of Cruz, while 36 percent see him unfavorably.
The senator was defiant Friday and told the conservative crowd the battle over the healthcare law could be won.
"The greatest trick the left has ever played is to convince conservatives we cannot win. The media will tell us that believing in free market values, believing in the Constitution, believing in freedom are extreme views. It is a lie," he said to cheers.
A Cruz missile for America going straight into the heart of the beast, laughing and relaxed. He's the real deal.
That is only62% what happened to the other 38% ?
52% of Americans view Obama unfavorably. Only 37% approve of Obama.
As mentioned by others, the guns of the DC establishment on both sides are all firing at Cruz repeatedly. The media is going after him, especially the leftist activist ones. He's the new Halliburton, Cheney, Bush, Palin, Kock Brothers, etc. The part of the left that is ideological and tuned in to these attacks HATE Cruz because of the attacks. That's where the negatives come from. Most people have no idea who he is.
It is going to be harder to destroy Cruz than it was Palin. He has all the right credentials (as viewed by liberals), e.g., he went to Princeton and Harvard and is a minority. Her has presented cases to the Supreme Court. Kind of hard to have him fit the stereotype of the dumb, extreme right radical. Cruz is also articulate and can explain and defend his views.
See Breitbart.
Sen. Cruz was born with Canadian citizenship and is therefore not eligible to serve in the Office of the President, but he has rightly earned full support in his U.S. Senate office and his battle against Obamacare and the Federal Budget overspending, and then some.
Oh, please. That lie has been laid to rest a long time ago.
I still think Plan B is coming in the end.
I would agree.
This will be a hard thing - but we're Americans, God didn't make a tougher breed of humans.
Apparently not, since you persist in a false belief in the lie.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) spoke today at the 2013 Values Voter Summit at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. Some of Obamas paid operatives showed up to disrupt, but Cruz showed Republicans how to handle hecklers, calling Obamas paid political operatives.Lolzzzz. No wonder why they hate him. He's FUNNY, too.He wondered aloud if anyone was left at the Organizing for Americas Campaign HQ! Im actually glad that the presidents whole political staff is here instead of actually doing mischief in the country, he said to raucous laughter and applause.
If something happens to Cruz—like an “Accident” or maybe a heart attack like Breitbart—that should bring massive demonstrations if not session and Civil War.
