For more than a week into a government shutdown, Paul Ryan kept a low profile amid the political uproar.

When he finally emerged, the time was ripe for someone with his conservative cred and fiscal bona fides to step in and try to corral his bucking Republican Party.

While a group of conservatives were driving the agenda in the quagmire over spending, Obamacare and the looming debt limit, Ryan dropped an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal outlining the Republican path forward.

Thoughts? Pretty deftly handled if it has the suspected impact and even moreso, if he's going to run.

There was a thread yesterday or the day before about Ryan bringing up means-testing for social security. An idea that will only antagonize older citizens.

On the other hand, fighting Obamacare openly is a win for Republicans, particularly as people become acquainted with it and the incompetent way it’s being handled. Virtually every sane individual will turn away from the Dems based on this train wreck.

This doesn’t seem ‘deft’ to me. Only stupid.
