For more than a week into a government shutdown, Paul Ryan kept a low profile amid the political uproar.
When he finally emerged, the time was ripe for someone with his conservative cred and fiscal bona fides to step in and try to corral his bucking Republican Party.
While a group of conservatives were driving the agenda in the quagmire over spending, Obamacare and the looming debt limit, Ryan dropped an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal outlining the Republican path forward.

Thoughts? Pretty deftly handled if it has the suspected impact and even moreso, if he's going to run.

Don’t know who you’re working for, but around here we have Ryan’s number. Let him run for president of Mexico.

The more Ryan sells out the American people, the better his press on CNN.

    Hey,
I’m not really sure what you mean, but I’m just saying, it appears to be pretty savvy politics on his part.

He's exposed himself to the base as a quisling, he'll have a hard time getting our respect back.
I hope he runs, right along with Jeb, Christie, and a dozen other RINO's. Splitting their vote would be a good thing for a change.

He’s a traitor to conservatives and a collaborator with the Democrats.
If he runs, he loses, hands down.
Just another version of the loser Mitt Romney.

We don’t need savvy politics! Savvy politics is what killed rthis country!!! We need LEADERSHIP commited to doing what’s right for America...not what’s right for Paul Ryan’s next campaign. Drop Dead Ryan.

Yeah, that whole supporting Amnesty is really savvy politics.

That whole refusing to support Ted Cruz in his fight against Obamacare shows real fortitude of Character, and Leadership.

Plug your brain in boy, you're spouting nonsense!

There was a thread yesterday or the day before about Ryan bringing up means-testing for social security. An idea that will only antagonize older citizens.
On the other hand, fighting Obamacare openly is a win for Republicans, particularly as people become acquainted with it and the incompetent way it’s being handled. Virtually every sane individual will turn away from the Dems based on this train wreck.
This doesn’t seem ‘deft’ to me. Only stupid.

I guess the bigger question is why do these so-called conservatives decide they have to “switch” to a more mainstream approach to get elected? Especially when it never works??

Nice pivot, but I'm not buying it.
