Jeff Jones started shopping for health insurance as soon as the Obamacare insurance marketplaces opened on October 1.
The Kentucky resident is like a lot LGBT citizens who have not had access to affordable health insurance in the past. If Jones, 47, had been able to legally marry, he would have immediately been eligible for coverage under his partner, Nathan Walkers, policy. Walker has domestic partnership benefits at work, but the couple havent lived together long enough to qualify for them.
Im a diabetic, so I do want to make sure Im covered, Jones said.
As a whole the LGBT community has less experience with insurance than the general population. A survey done by Out2Enroll, a group that focuses on helping the LGBT community with health issues, found that about a third of respondents were uninsured. Its estimated some 16.3% of the general population is uninsured.
In honor of National Coming Out Day on Friday, Out2Enrolls Be Out. Be Healthy. Get Covered campaign has launched a new LGBT-friendly website with advice about how to navigate the insurance marketplace.

Lifetime Man Country membership and his pal Reggie isn’t enough, eh?
A fan of taqiyya an’ da’ ol’ down low.
“You all can see where this is going...right? THe sick (necessarily homosexuals) soak up the $$$. Since theyre a govt protected group they get preference. That means you dont. Nice huh...but you still have to pay the ever increasing premiums for them.”
The gay homosexual guys will cost a lot to extend their lives a few years, like 50k to 150k per year.
Then, the lesbian women, who live to their 60-70’s will take their turn re eating up the health care $’s with severe mental illness and depression and long term chronic diseases.
Free stuff for sodomites.
“but you still have to pay the ever increasing premiums for them.”
Not only that, Fox reported that States are dumping their prisoners on to Obamacare.
How about the cover of newsweek. and the call to the gay basketball player praising him for coming out cause o doesn’t have the balls to do it. what about the actor from House that was sexually harassed by barrie?
When you have a $10,000 yearly copay, it’s not free stuff.
Is signing up for FUBOcare any easier for a gay person than for a straight person?
Isn’t the healthy young males needed to pay for sickees...these males are exposed to so much!
It has to be radical and fast, otherwise even the drones would notice and a remedial solution could be enacted to stem it.
Saying you’re “gay” must be a special password for special medical treatment. They roll out the red carpet for you.
Might give it a try, just for grins.
Insurance is managing risk, nothing more.
When an outside party dumps an inordinate amount of risk into the equation, and then demands the same coverage, management becomes an extinct species.
I’m trying to find out how to get a job as a navigator, but maybe being a gaynigator is even better?
Hell yes they are coming out.
No insurance company worth it’s salt would cover these HIV ridden peter puffers, now they get covered and we all pay for it.
Whatever. They can simply go to the new Obamacare website and buy their insurance. Why do they need to make a big production out of it?
