Obama knows exactly which country he is in. As for reading the wrong constitution, he interprets what he reads differently than you or I.
Your republic will not survive this presidency. In fact, it hasn't and won't in the same form as it was in 2008. The theft of equity from the Chrysler and GM bondholders was the opening gambit on the road to fascism. When the president can simply steal wealth from one group and grant it to his friends without legal backing and without much protest, it's all over. The rest is just an epilog.
