AFP News ^ | October 9, 2013

Earth may experience a radically different climate already within 34 years, forever changing life as we know it, said a study Wednesday.

"The results shocked us," lead author Camilo Mora-Wanker of the University of Hawaii's geography department said of the findings.

"Within my generation, whatever climate we are used to will be a thing of the past."

I created source code that takes the temperature from 2002 and projects that to 50 years out.

VOILA !

Ice age is gauranteed !

It's not in the original story.

And no, it's not a she.

Don't people check stuff out before commenting?

Even after all of that... it’s still just a model, and a new model at that. The ultimate test of any model is to see how well its predictions match the real world, but this one has no track record to check yet.

There are some who will believe this scare attempt. And most who will see it for what it is.

In 1963 Edward Lorenz wrote “Deterministic Nonperiodic Flow” which showed a proof that future weather can not be predicted in a non-trivial way. The Navier Stokes equations are non-linear, chaotic, and show sensitive dependence on initial conditions. That means that no finite set of past states can ever be sufficient to predict non-trivial future states.

To the extent that people predict the future to justify their global warming assertions, to that extent it is a hoax.

They don't even need computer models to do this. They just sit around in seminars ăying, "What if...," and then pick the best sounding one to publish.

Neither IVW, nor IAC concern me as much as what we are experiencing in the Northern United States, an effect known as PSAD (post Solstice Accelerated Darkening -- although this is controversial, some believe it to be pre Solstice Accelerated Darkening... scientific nit-picking ... whatever.)

This horrible effect becomes even more pronounced as one approaches the North Pole. There is speculation in some quarters that parts of the planet above the arctic circle may have a day with no light at all.

But perhaps even more concerning is that this phenomenon is clearly aggravated by predictable human activity. Best evidence now says that we will lose an entire hour of daylight at exactly 2:00 AM on November 3rd.

We're gassing up the chainsaws, stocking propane, depleted uranium ammo and freeze-dried apricots.

Just in case...

There's a famous public bathroom in downtown London where Camilo parked her bowels.

I think you'll find the commentary is less concerned with whether there should be gender confusion over the name "Camilo," and the clearly eponymous "Wanker."

Can’t say much about science, but something comes to me as common sense. How is it that our planet could grow warmer when it’s heated by a star? What happens to stars? Do they not grow dimmer with time? No doubt in my mind that the planet will die when the sun stops warming it. We are going to freeze to death!
