To say that Cruz is not held in high regard by Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill is an understatement.
...That lack of strategy certainly rankled one influential Republican member of Congress, who bemoaned President Obamas disinterest in rescuing the GOP from itself to a bunch of reporters last Thursday, speaking on the condition that he not be quoted by name:
[L]ook, Cruz and company lost a lot of influence in the House when he gave them exactly what they asked for and [Senate Republicans] couldnt produce what they promised. Most of us thought they never were going to be able to produce what they promised. But some people did. And if you remember, [what] dropped from the junior senators talking points pretty quickly was, if the House stands united, then therell be 41 Republicans standing strong. Well, there werent. There were 19. I mean, he couldnt even get a majority of his own conference. He couldnt get the majority of the minority in his own body. So, look, hes pretty gifted at positioning himself and hes a brilliant communicator. And I probably agree with him on 95 percent of the issues. But Ill tell you one thing: Hes never played team sports in his life.

When the “team” is willfully scoring points for the opposition, it’s time to blow the roof off the farce.
Oh no! The Compost does not like Ted Cruz!
I’d say that’s a good point for Ted Cruz - he must be doing something right!
We obviously need a 24/7 open season on US RINOs.
This is the problem with the GOP elite/ruling class.
For us, the fact he’s not a team player is a tremendous positive.
Finally , a few true Republic-ans that will not participate in the D.C. circle jerk .
The people of the United States should descend on that place , pull them out of their offices and send them home with the order “ do not return “
per the team sports comment...
there are a lot of assholes on a team.
plus, politics is NOT sports. sports games in the grand scheme of things, don’t mean jack sh1t.
people in politics with real convictions they won’t cave on, now that’s what we’re looking for.
not someone who thinks an issue is about “politics” and out-maneuvering opponents just because they want to score a point, or be the ones in control of some oppressive new law.
Screw the gop/mcnutts.
Real leaders usually aren’t team players. They LEAD and coach the team players and by doing so, they form the team.
Cruz is actually looking out for America & Americans...unlike most of our other politicians (who are out for themselves).
I like Cruz, just fine.
Exactly whose team is he supposed to play on? The washed-up quasi-democrat RINO Obama-bootlickers? Or the team of those who elected him, and who supports what he is doing 100%?
Screw the bootlickers, and screw the comPost.
GOOD, if my team was that incompetent, I believe I'd start my own team, which he did, or quit, which he wouldn't, and made them look as bad as they are..
Give me a break....
Just Damn! Teds a Prima Donna?
If only he could be a Team player like McCain......
Ok I’ve had it. And just what is the goal of said “team”? Dear God, I wish McCain would retire and spend his golden years with his family. I don’t like the way I feel about him
I didn’t hire him to be a team player.
Nonsense. All you need to know about this article is its source: Washington Post. The content falls quickly into the gutter.
Speaks volumes that the place these ‘Republicans’ go to air their complaints is the Washington Post
