Protecting Our Most Sacred Monuments...?

When is Government NOT for and by the people? When Government takes the view that Federal means, "it's ours, we controle it, and unless you do as we command, we'll shut it all down". Somehow, that does not sound like the America that Americans have fought and died for over the years... 2.7+ million dead and wounded up till now. It takes a cold calculating heart to take what belongs to the people, barricade it up, set sentries around it so the people cannot enjoy it unless the ruling elite get what they want... and that apparently is more money with which to rule over the people.

The open air monuments, for instance. What does it cost to allow people to roam the grounds of a monument versus paying for erecting barricades and setting sentries to guard it from the people. If there are fountains go ahead and turn them off and put up a sign that says, "due to the government shut down we do not have the money to operate the fountains". And as far a policing the area, well you're already paying the sentries to guard the monument, so let them police the area as any normal day of operation. As for debris pick up, simply post signs that say to please keep area clean as there are is no trash pick up till the shutdown ends. There are enough respectful good natured Americans that would not only keep their own clutter to themselves, but would also pick up the clutter from others. So much so that the monuments may actually stay cleaner. But I guess that's all just a little too reasonable. Which is to say, that being reasonable is obviously not the point.

The point is, unless you give Obama what he wants, he's going to take the power of Government and dig its heel into your back till you surrender. That's Obama's America... jack booted and brown shirted. Obama has taken Government for and by the people and turned it into a vengeful machine.

How long America, how long will you put up with a petulant child president who seems to take pleasure in twisting the heel of Government into the backs of those he despises? And who does he despise... the kind of people for whom these monument were built. He despises the monuments and the America for which they stand.

"For God and Country" was the motto of The Greatest Generation. What has it become under this president? Like a terrorist using terror to compel, Obama audaciously uses ridicule and insult to gob-smack ordinary, God fearing Americans, till they comply to his design. His motto is, "The Hope of Audacity". Unfortunately, his audacity has worked and many Americans have succumbed. Just think what he would do had he complete dictatorial powers? Don't like the idea? Then we must take a stand against his tyrrany... I say break the barricades down wherever you see them, cross the lines wherever you can. Carry a sign to the site stating that you stand in defieance of the petulant child president, and reclaim the monuments For God and Country and for whom those monuments stand.

It's Public property, not Federally Owned Private Property.
I can see how they can bar access to military installations and such, but not public parks.
They have no business doing this.
And to deliberately hurt private businesses that happens to be located on Federal land?
Federal workers will get back pay. Private businesses will lose thousands with no back pay, ever.

This is no longer America, The land Of The Free.

It is now King Obama's Feifdom.

The traitors and spineless worms in the senate and congress let Obama trample all over the US Constitution and don't do a thing to protect the citizens or the nation.

I appreciate you taking the time to voice your (correct) opinion. Well stated. I wish someone in leadership would finally make a similar appeal.

I remember reading about Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense” in high school and how influential it was. It seems now there are too many voices; that we’re “Informed to Death” as Neal Postman wrote about. Your post, though an impassioned, reasoned, accurate reflection on what’s happening and what should be done, is one of a million voices adding to the din. Is it possible that a 21st century “Common Sense” could have the same affect the 18th century version did? What if Thomas Sowell, Rush Limbaugh, or Ted Cruz made the same appeal you’ve made? Is that what it will take? Why haven’t they?

There seems to be something supernatural at work which is making what you advocate unlikely. Everyone with any understanding senses that things are gravely wrong, they know that a minimum of something right up to the point of violent revolution will right it, but no one in leadership is advocating it.

Just some ramblings. I wish I had the time, skill, and/or motivation to collect my thoughts into something more articulate and readable.

Thank you for your kind words... I’m supposed to be working, as I write, but since I’m my own boss, a little lost business is worth the time to voice. I’m no writer, but sometimes I just have to speak my mind. And its generally, as you say, because no one else seems to be making the attempt.

I believe that supernatural thing, is God removing His hedge of protection away from America, for we have kicked God out. I’m reading a book now called THE HARBINGER. The way these things seem to work is that God will allow the enemy to overthrow the righteous, when the righteous turn their back on God. Nevertheless, those who are called of God, who hold to His way, still make a stand for righteousness, regardless of the evil overtaking the nation... we make a stand, come hell or high water.

Obama is the enemy of God, yet God allows Obama to rule as if to say, “is this the way you want it... would you rather be under a Godless Tyrant?” Those who are Godless, have no problem, because they give the Tyrant his power and the Tyrant gives them “goodies” for their flesh. For them, a fair exchange, so long as the righteous are castigated and powerless, “goodies” is all they care about.

A mounting tide against this tyranny may yet develop, and I believe people like Cruz are leading that charge... we must pray for Cruz and his like to ignite a fire under the America of the free and the brave, that be us. May we have the courage to do our part.
