If Peter King’s brand of Republicanism seems to be on the wane these days, the Long Island congressman isn’t letting it go quietly. Kng, 69, has long been one of the Hill’s most quotable and irascible troublemakers, a frequent presence on cable television with an apparently boundless capacity for outrage. He has fumed over topics as serious as Hurricane Sandy relief and aid for 9/11 responders, and as comparatively trivial as the White House party crashers and the death of Michael Jackson (whom he called a “lowlife” and a “pervert.”) King broke with Newt Gingrich over the government shutdowns of the mid-1990s and earned the gratitude of the Clinton clan when he rebuked his own party for impeaching a president for sexual indiscretions. So while it’s not a surprise that King would be one of the Republican Party’s most prominent internal critics these days, even the congressman’s friends say there’s a new intensity and urgency to the lawmaker’s indignation.
King has thundered away in recent months against what he calls the “Ted Cruz wing” of the Republican Party, criticizing the GOP’s libertarian drift on issues such as domestic surveillance and assailing what he views as the utter pointlessness of the House’s effort to defund Obamacare at the cost of a government shutdown. He has floated the idea of a 2016 presidential campaign largely out of opposition to the tea party crowd. His frustration, friends say, reflects a deepening conviction that Republicans have lost touch with the working-class, middle-of-the-road voters who sent King to Congress in the first place, and who used to make Republican candidates for the Senate and the presidency competitive in downstate New York.

Why doesn’t he just do the right thing for America?
The Arlen Specter/Lincoln Chaffee wing of the party. Some of them don’t know they are Democrats. Others, the smart ones, do, but pretend not to be so they can wreak the most havoc. Not sure which kind of Democrat masquerading as Republican King is. Most of them stay Republican until it becomes too much to pull off. Time for King to join Jeffords.

Peter King deserves all the loneliness he gets!
Like many of you, I’ve grown weary of hearing most of the pundits and politicians pussyfooting around this subject. With the exception of Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee and a handful of others on the conservative side, none have come right out and said what every THINKING American KNOWS!
The fight over Obamacare is about stopping the unvetted, unqualified, narcissistic megalomaniacal former community organizer and tyrant in the White House from bringing about his “transformation of America”. That phrase was and is code among his dumbed down and/or uninformed supporters for creating a despotic Marxist redistributionist Utopia. That it has failed everywhere it has been attempted and left misery and death in its wake is of no concern to them. The magic Obama can make it finally work.
One element that may puzzle some of you is why more of the wealthy captains of industry and capitalists – who ostensibly have the most to lose – haven’t spoken out in opposition.
Two reasons (there may be more):
1. They believe they will be princes in the new order, their lives of wealth and ease little affected by the distress inflicted on the us down here, the mass of the great unwashed. They really should restudy the histories of those who collaborated with other tyrants who, once in firm control, dispatched those who had the resources and intellect to topple the new “king” once the inclination to do so took hold of them.
2. During the Cold War, the head of Citibank, one Walter Wriston, was asked why his New York based organization continued to provide financing to the tyrants running the Soviet Union and the slave states the USSR dominated. He replied that it made little difference to him what sort of government these nations had and his only concern was “Can they pay their bills?”
The WWII era Norwegians coined a real world name for those folks: Quisling.

It really doesn’t matter what party of which they claim to be a member. Only Democrats can win elections in the New York City area.
Peter King, one of the last gasps of the Rockefellerites...until the next group comes along that is.
He might have started with good intentions. But he’s been in the bubble too long, and gotten too used to the good life, to the point of allowing himself to go intellectually soft, and be co-opted by those who know how to corrupt one.
Peter is projecting. Again.
For those who remember the Lewinski days, King was on TV every night defending clinton with the “all about sex” shtick.

Who did those people turn out for? Oh, yeah. Ronald Reagan! A conservative. Peter King had the audacity to call himself a ‘Reagan Conservative’ when he is NO SUCH THING!
Is it any wonder the GOP has lost the attraction it used to hold for Americans who work hard and want to see the country restored?
The last Bush spent more than the Democrats before him! The party is crawling with country club elitist toads like Karl Rove and Reince Pukus. Precisely the people who King identifies with. Just take a glance at the Weekly Standard, and you have idiots like Bill Kristol calling for an end to attacks on ‘big government’, that we must embrace the federal leviathan in the knowledge that we can ‘manage’ it better.
That’s all King is. A manager, and an attention seeker. His district doesn’t like him. Conservatives don’t like him. Reagan would not have liked him. He’s a fraud, and a shill for the Democrat’s tyrannical takeover. F U PETER!
New York Republican. ‘nuff said.
King’s support for the Irish Republican Army goes way back to the 70s. It’s a bit hard to consider that he had “good intentions” behind that. This is a man that said Gerry Adams was like George Washington.
King’s more “libertarian” than Cruz, in practice.
Time to retire. Collect your Jesse Jackson Junior pension.
