Tax-paying, hard-working families arent letting White House shutdown politics stop them from enjoying Americas beauty. Theyre defying the orange cones at Mount Rushmore. Theyre breaching the barrycades at Zion National Park. And now, the Badlands of South Dakota.
Noelle Bruno tweets that she and her family made it through Mount Rushmore despite the White House obstacles:
The road through the Badlands is South Dakota STATE highway 240 and should be open to the public. The National Park Service collects a $15 toll to drive through the national monument, but it is still a STATE highway.
The other day I saw how the plastic fencing at the Cuyahoga Valley Ohio and Erie Canal bike path had been breached and people were still riding the trail, great site.
Bite me!
>> How can a park like that be closed?
Not closed; under siege by petulant, anti-American Socialists.
Uh, yeah. Sounds like someone needs a refresher in to woody guthrie and his beweefs. He may have been a good songster but he was red through and through. (Flak to follow I’m sure)
If we don’t throw off the cones while in peace and safety today, we will end up throwing off the chains when in war and blood tomorrow...
Actually it’s quite the opposite. If the “government” is “shut down” they shouldn’t be using Park Rangers and other government workers to go OUT OF THEIR WAY TO CLOSE PLACES THAT ARE NORMALLY WIDE OPEN!
Mt. Rushmore Visitor’s Center—obviously closed. But to try to prevent people from viewing the mountain from private or state roads? No.
Gift shops and visitors centers? Most are staffed by volunteers anyway. Shut them if volunteer/private funding is available? No.
Closing private businesses located near parks and monuments? No.
Barricading Washington Memorials that are never staffed, open 24/7/365? No.
Trying to close the sea? No.
All these things COST MONEY THAT IS NOT SPENT DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS!!
The “Panda Cam” is funded by a private foundation. But it’s shut down.
Don’t be a fool, Barnacle Centurion. This is just the sort of thing that will lead to a new American Revolution. I say to the people “Occupy America!!”.
Civil disobedience.
And no one has been more civil than conservatives.
It is long past time for the good people of America to just flat out refuse to obey stupid, ignorant, statists and their lackeys. It is time for Americans to exercise jury nullification instead of “following the judges’ instructions”.
It is our country,we worked for it!!
Do you support locking WWII Vets out of the WWII Memorial? Remember, for most of these men they’ll never have another opportunity in their lives. If they don’t get in now, they’ll be dead before they can reschedule.
Still peachy fine with you? Sounds like it is.
I am too poor and busy to go there but if there I’d tell those two just what I think of them and their fellow bootlickers.
Clinton’s 100,000 more cops and obama’s “civilian force as well armed and as large as the military were designed to stifle, not protect freedom.
Shhhh! Now you went and let the cat out of the bag.
You sound like a fellow that might know the difference between s*** and Shine-ola. Do they really taste different or are they about the same? Your favorite?
I can see Steve Martin yelling at Bernadette Peters, “DON’T LOOK DOWN! There is a snail form the National Seashore on your plate!”
Why don’t you quietly crawl back to Huffington Post or the DU?
"Son, you're gonna be all right."

Have you been to Mt Rushmore? There are clear sidewalks, no one hikes or gets lost. It is more important we defy the idiot in the WH over this game.
Well, if they get lost or injured hiking around mount Rushmore they shouldnt call the government for help.....Right. They NEVER should. Did Liver Eating Johnson call for help? You are on your own, unlike the ferals in the cities. Sorry.
