FULL TITLE: Obama on Sen. Ted Cruz: attention-seeker at fault in government shutdown; Cruz says the president is “playing games”

The man with the biggest megaphone in Washington, President Barack Obama, has called out Texas’ junior senator as an attention-seeking upstart.

“When I came into the Senate, my attitude was I should just keep a pretty low profile in the Senate and just do the work,” he said, contrasting the early days of his own brief Senate career with the nine-month tenure of Sen. Ted Cruz. “I didn’t go around courting the media, and I certainly didn’t go around trying to shut down the government.”

update 4pm: Cruz responds by accusing Obama of “offering partisan jabs and playing games with the shutdown to maximize its painfulness.” (full statement below)

Still can’t be as bad as Austin. I feel like my neighborhood is a lone outpost here. It’s the people who drive straight to downtown after their flight arrives from LA who are the problem. This is what happens when an intellectual lightweight like Obama, who claims to have graduated from Harvard Law School but can’t produce a diploma, goes up against a true heavyweight like Ted Cruz, who really did graduate from Harvard Law School and has a diploma stating ‘’Magna Cum Laude’’ to prove it.

Talked with a guy at BC in Dallas this week. He is slightly over 50, has lived in Dallas his whole life and has never been to the Hill Country or the Gulf and didn’t know they had trees in East Texas. Said the Hill Country was too far and he didn’t think there was anything out there worth seeing.

When my daughter was alive one Saturday a month we’d pack a go bag and take off in the car in one direction or the other without a map and never drove on the freeway. If we saw an interesting road we’d go exploring. Such a wonderful state we live in and so many awesome things to see.
