Herpin, Rivera Sworn in to Replace Recalled Dems as Morse Takes Parting Shot ( CO recalls )

Six months ago, Bernie Herpin assumed his best political days were behind him. He had lost his reelection bid for Colorado Springs city council and he was approaching his 70th birthday. “I just figured I was done with politics,” said Herpin.

It turns out he was wrong. On Thursday, Republicans Herpin and George Rivera were sworn in as the newest members of the Colorado state Senate, replacing the two Democrats ousted in last month’s historic recall elections.

...

Pro-Democrat groups outspent the recallers by at least 6 to 1, which resulted in a few tense moments for the GOP campaigns.

“When all the outside money started pouring in, we started to get pretty nervous,” said Herpin. “But we were always cautiously optimistic.”...

Giron lost her bid to remain in office by a margin of 56 to 44 percent...

Senate President John Morse (D-Colorado Springs) lost the recall election by a margin of 51 to 49 percent.

The only negative note Thursday was sounded by Morse, who issued a statement calling Herpin a “pawn.”

Amazing the difference a change in the voting procedures can make, when a motivated populace starts to pay attention.

Oh, the irony.

Herpin said back to Morse: "Not so. I'm a prawn, so eat me."

Hysterical. Morse did the bidding of New York’s Bloomberg, but his replacement is a pawn.

It's always of interest how demagogues from the Demagogic Party regard all of us -- in this example, as pawns.

A new recall petition has been approved for circulation against Sen. Evie Hudak of Arvada (Colorado Senate District 19).

The key thing to keep in mind is that Sen. Hudak faced re-election just 11 months ago, narrowly beating GOP opponent Lang Sias in one of the most expensive state legislative races of the 2012 cycle .

Hey Dems, why don’t y’all try some more NYC-style gun control votes.

It’s really working out for ya, right?!

It would be good to see the trifecta taking out Hudak.

Hudak - “The approval of a recall petition will not change my focus on the 2014 legislative session, during which I will advocate for women and seniors, and for the best education we can provide our children – just as I have always done.”

What is it with Dems? It's always the same trite, hackneyed, old victim cards. It didn't work for Giron in Pueblo. We got wall-to-wall political ads about Giron "who cared" - it spectacularly didn't work.
