Kathleen Parker: A monumental mistake
Washington Post ^ | Oct 5, 203 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 10/05/2013 7:55:26 AM PDT by Innovative

In more recent history, when a group of World War II veterans recently faced barriers blocking entry to the memorial — an open space requiring not so much as an attendant — these elderly warriors took a page from their Normandy playbook and stormed the barricades.

Can there be an image more inspiring than members of this venerable club, whose living roll declines each day by about 640, pushing their way through flimsy, useless, pointless barriers to roam among pillars erected to their heroism? What was Washington thinking?

Ditto the closing of the D-Day cemetery in Normandy, France, where more than 9,000 Americans are buried. And this is the president who recently declared that The American People are not political pawns to be used to score political points?

...it is baffling to imagine anyone thinking that the way to winning hearts and minds is by disrespecting the nation’s most beloved demographic.

That sentence was nails-on-the-blackboard for me, too. Incoherent, but, after several readings, I figured out she’s totally clueless about the American people. I’d wager at least 1/3 of Americans want fedbeast cut down by half and “shuttering” it is a great start. The added bonus is that it shows the petty, malevolent, spiteful nature of the communist slacker who has never worked a day in his miserable life.

..anyone know if they closed off the circle of the Iwo Jima Monument?...Barney Frank and his “friends” used it for “pick ups” Limousines of all makes cruise around “shopping”...but since it’s built on a road circle, you would think all they would have to do is close off the road....but it would anger the limp wrist set.....just saying

I can see President Reagan now, in my mind's eye, and feel his spirit as he spoke these outstanding and enduring words.

He loved America. He loved Americans.

I was fortunate enough to visit the RR library many years ago not long after it opened. They had one of his draft speeches with his handwritten comments all over it. It showed just how astute he was regarding the subject at hand. I would be very surprised if this speech doesn’t have the same level of personal touch as well.

Public education has done a bang-up job of rendering at least 50% of America as jaw-dropping stupid. And there is nothing in the way of that trend.

I have a feeling obama and the democrats will suffer some serious blow-back as more and more people find out the truth about obamacare. One thing that people understand is money. I had to laugh at all the angry posts on the facebook site for obamacare.

One of the most heart-rending stories WRT the invasion was in an earlier NYT WW11 commemorative edition.

The boatswain piloting the assault craft filled w/ troops stopped the boat in deep water ---he was scared to go further--who could blame him?

The unit's captain knew if the troops disembarked in deep water they would drown from the heavy equipment they carried. He pulled out a gun, cocked it and ordered the boatswain to move in closer to allow the troops to disembark in shallower waters.

The LIVs are still blaming the Republicans, and will continue to blame them forever.

The “Tear down the wall” speech had that phrase taken out 3 times by the RINOs infesting his admin, he personally put it back every time. Yes he was smart

Kathleen Parker threw Palin under the bus like all the other RINOs, thereby throwing the election to the Dems, and creating the misery she now wails about. Sorry Ms. Parker, but you can go to hell too (see below).

Any other American President, any one of them, would have given the order to remove those barricades after two hours. Obama is in day five. Nixon never would have done this. Clinton would have taken them down after two hours. Obama is in day five of screwing around with World War II Veterans. The economy is in the toilet. Unemployment is horrible. Obama’s foreign policy is a joke around the world. And he makes it a point to put up barricades against WWII Vets in wheelchairs? That’s crazy stupid.

Someone posted yesterday that the company sold those barricades to Uncle Sam some time ago.
