Unidentified foreign forces have launched a night-time raid on a militant base in the south Somali town of Barawe from the sea, reports say.
A spokesman for the al-Shabab Islamist group told Reuters news agency that one of its fighters had been killed during the raid.......
Al-Shabab claimed responsibility last month for the deadly attack on a Kenyan shopping mall.....
According to the Somali news website Midnimo, two helicopters were also involved in the raid.....
"Westerners in boats attacked our base as Barawe beach and one was martyred from our side," Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Masab, described as al-Shabab's spokesman for military operations, told Reuters by phone......

I wonder if McCain was there? havent seen him on TV lately?
I would be very pleased to see more of these terrorists sent on their way to The World of Seventy-Two Virgins—or, as the news story puts it (quoting one of the terrorists), “martyred”...
This picture just came in. The picture was taken just before the missiles struck.
I’m curious if they weren’t sent to snatch someone. If the goal was to kill them, a missile launch from an aircraft or ships would have been easier.

Marines aren’t spec-ops, do you mean ex Marines that served in Marine spec-ops units?
Yup, and we lost another member of NATO in southern Helmand in a green on blue.
Fwiw, al Shabaab now say it was British & Turkish troops.
A major reason the Somalis turned to piracy was that when their government collapsed fleets of fishing boats from places like China and The Philippines cleaned out Somalia's territorial waters leaving the locals starving.
Let's hope so.
The Fearless Sea Scouts of the Somali Environmental Protection Sustainable Fishing Department strike again, eh?
Fairly complete Lefty-Wing Hosshiite. The big boats of the Somali fishing fleet are now the motherships for piratical operations. The money is better in piracy until the Euro-Weenies get really angry.
Great opportunity for armed tourism.
Guess I wasn’t clear. The executive rescue teams are mainly made up of:
1. Former spec-ops.
2. Ranger veterans.
3. Marine veterans.
Can also throw in pilots, both rotor and fixed wing. In-country operatives are utilized too.
There, I’ve completely exhausted my meager knowledge of executive rescue. Oh, it’s fairly cheap to buy an executive rescue policy. If you believe that Maoists or Mau-Maus are stalking you, call your local insurance agent today. No, I don’t sell insurance.
:-)
Any just Army vets?
More worthless pinprick surgical bullcrap strikes. we need to go in and cause massive casualties...and promise more....if we are in the slightest way perturbed.
Pinprick attacks are the standard for Republicans and Democrats since World War 2.
We don’t fight wars to win anymore. whether the “Cold War” or the “War on Terrorism”.
