Like the hundreds of World War II veterans who came to National Mall to pay their respects this week, a group of Vietnam veterans found a barricade blocking the way to their memorial Friday. News4's Mark Segraves said two U.S. Park Service Rangers manning the gate asked that the group respect the government's shutdown but moved aside.
Segraves described the exchange as pleasant and respectful.
The veterans then moved the barricade and walked down to the wall to pay their respects. But a flood of tourists followed even though the memorial is closed to the general public.
U.S. Park Police arrive to the scene, asked everyone to leave and put the barricade back into place.

Is the Martin Luther King monument/statue similarly closed off?
They are really poking the wrong bear on this one.
This is so asinine and beyond stupidity. It shows just how petty and childish the obamanites are...............
UN-FRE$%&*$#KING-BELIEVABLE!
Methinks they want war.
Ring the White Hut too.
The Vietnam Wall? Are they series??? You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, and you never, EVER mess with the Vietnam Vets.
These degenerate commies in the Clown Prince nobama administration have no shame and no limit. At the same time they are harrassing veterans through these obscene closures, the Clown Car administration distributed $455,000,000 to PBS. Disgusting. I realize now why we build so many prisons. This Clown Car administration of the Clown Prince nobama should be arrested and imprisoned.

Indeed. Given all the crap the liberals (who now occupy government) gave them when they returned from service; keep’n them away from honoring and remembering their fallen brothers could be the last straw.
Yes. But King’s supporters are by-and-large Obama supporters so they’ll take the abuse by their new king and won’t complain.
British regulars under command of Lt. Col. Francis Smith asked the Massachusetts militia to abandon their position on the North Bridge and allow the British troops to proceed on towards Concord.
While O may have overplayed his hand on the WW2 memorial, he also knows these were votes he would never get anyway. The gamble is that it won’t inflame the public at large... a risky one IMHO.
“two U.S. Park Service Rangers manning the gate”
Uh, why do you need two people to keep them out? How many people did it take to “man” a fixed wall usually?
Some protests should be mounted with lots of people just milling about the "closed" memorials. Notify some sympathetic "news" person so it can hopefully be covered by the media in at least some small part.
If the govt is shut down; then why are US Park Rangers on the scene? How are they getting paid?
And are they there on site directing people when the govt is not shut down?
