My experience with a family member’s mental illness (bipolar disorder) is very different from what you have stated.

As long as she was on the meds, no problems. Skip a day or two, forget about it. Psychosis followed in short order, and then hospitalization to get her blood chemistry fixed.

Where will they be institutionalized exactly? Start naming facilities. Who will pay for their care and imprisonment... i mean treatment?

I doubt you have even the most remote understanding of the mental institution history in this country and the fact that most were shut down due to horrific treatment. Lack of funding and overcrowding turned the mental health profession into the prison profession, except worse because few gave a crap what happened to these people. Everyone wants to lock the crazies up but nobody wants to pay for it.

I am SO offended by your comments!!!! I have clinical OCD and meds are DEFINATELY effective. I live a an honorable, responsible, productive life that would NOT be possible without the meds and not one person I know would call me a “nutter”. Schizophrenia is another issue but those people did NOT ask for it or bring it on themselves. God forbid anyone in your family or even yourself should have to deal with it.

My son has Schizoaffective disorder. The meds he takes have saved his life. Thats a fact.
