I had the same experience with a neighbor. When she was on her meds she was delightful but she eventually decided that everyone else had a problem and not her. When she went off her medication all hell would break loose. She continued to spiral downward for years and died alone at an early age. She alienated her family and everyone else around her.

Seems like maybe the doctors were not sure where her illness fell in terms of a firm diagnosis so were seeing which meds she responded to the best.

Which is, as I understand it and experienced it with my mom’s condition, the norm. Our body chemistry is unique to us. There is no one size fits all.
Oh they certainly should have been on Meds. It was an error to go off. But women have to sometimes when they are pregnant.

So how many mental health disorders does a person need to have, how many medications must they be prescribed, and how many times do they need to be off their medications and fly wild before you believe they should be committed to some sort of intensive observation and control?
Do you feel we should wait until they shoot up a lecture hall, shoot up a theater, or move into the woods and start mailing bombs?

All the recent revelations about domestic spying by the NSA is probably feeding the delusions of many more. We joke about the "snoops" on FR, but for others it is a very real fear and it can put them into state of panic.

What the hell? The cops have gone crazy on this. They’re treating the woman they murdered as a shooter.
They are the problem.
She had no gun. The only shots fired were the cops killing her.
Notice how the Wash Post deliberately omits the fact that the cops killed her:
“Authorities said the woman was not armed, and although the incident was first reported as a shooting at the Capitol, the only shots were fired by officers.”
“The end came outside the Hart Senate Office Building, at Maryland Avenue and Second Street NE. The woman’s car got stuck. Officers fired another volley. Then, moments later, an officer emerged with the girl and carried the toddler quickly away as new waves of officers arrived.”
Nice. Explain to the kid that mommy had something wrong with her head, did a foolish thing, and was shot by the “serve and protect” crowd.
I in no way justify shooting at a mother with a baby. This was way wrong. However, my point is that all the ‘terrorists’ lately have been democrats, despite the government media complex assumption that the only terrorists in the US are tea party republicans.
Here is why I will be skeptical about the explanation being set up by the media and authorities.
We are supposed to infer that because she was mentally ill (pick your diagnosis) Carey traveled to DC to harm either the President or members of congress or take your pick; the point is “Dangerous women goes berserk!” and “Thank G the brave police stopped her before she could kill someone!”
Now her illness may very well explain her reactions to being confronted when she tried backing up when this all began. But one can not presume it explains why she was in DC in the first place. If we are supposed to infer that she meant to harm somebody because of other such patterns of behavior involving other mentally ill people, I must ask “o.k. but where was the gun?”
I mean after all she was convinced some person was a threat to her or to the whole world or to baby ducks everywhere. Doesn’t matter how real the threat was just that she perceived it was so. Now she is determined to make sure this person is exposed or stopped or brought to justice. She must stop him. She must protect herself from him. How much sense would it make for somebody suffering from such a delusion to go off and confront the big, bad, evil without any kind of weapon?
We know being mentally ill is not really a bar to obtaining a gun. So why didn’t she do so? Did she really think she would drive her car up the WH lawn or Capitol steps and vanquish her foe with the assault auto?
The other thing is that I am very sure she would have known the best way to access and approach her intended target. She would not have gone to some back entry which was obviously barricaded and tried to ram her way past security. The mentally ill are ill not stupid.
Even “suicide by cop does not explain it.” Again if that was her motive where was the gun? She could be about 100% certain if she drew down on LEO they would shoot her. Trying to back up and turn around at security? Maybe? Maybe not?
I am sick of the media writing the story we are supposed to accept without any questions. I think something stinks here and I hope a better investigation is forthcoming.
Both the Navy yard shooter and this female appear to have been born in NY, NY and both grew up in Brooklyn. Both were 34 years of age. No known ties found other than both grew up in Brooklyn. Checking to see if true.

Perhaps the Police have been “warned” of something happening during the ShutDown (to blame on Ted Cruz) and this woman just happened to be at the wrong place during the wrong time?

Exactly, that was my immediate reaction when I saw the video.
What was stopping them from doing that, smashing the driver's window open and then hauling her out? Hell, I've seen that happen more than once on Cops for crying out loud.
