U.S. Sen. Lindsey Grahams campaign is said to be in meltdown mode based on internal polling done in the wake of his conflicted votes on Obamacare last week.
Already vulnerable among GOP voters due to a host of ideological betrayals (including his support for energy tax hikes, internet tax hikes, amnesty for illegal aliens and domestic spying), Grahams tortured opposition to Obamacare has reportedly caused his perilous position to erode even further.
How much further? FITS was not provided with specific details on the poll but one source close to Grahams camp tells us the organization has been temporarily incapacitated by the numbers that came back following Grahams Obamacare votes.
Other Graham sources dispute that contention. They say their internal polling shows his approval rating among Republicans dropping but that the decline was within the margin of error.
Graham will boast another impressive fundraising quarter, this source told us (including big money from a recent trial lawyer event) but his estimated $7 million war chest may not be enough to save him.
Meanwhile up in Washington, D.C., another poll taken by a limited government group opposing Grahams reelection found similar results.
Adding Obamacare appeasement to his lengthy list of sins has hurt Lindsey Graham badly, one source familiar with the limited government groups polling tells FITS.
Not only that, this group is said to be shopping its data to a pair of fiscally conservative U.S. Congressmen Mick Mulvaney and Mark Sanford in an effort to encourage them to run against Graham.
They are actively recruiting, our source said, referring to the overall effort to oust Graham as an eight-figure operation.
LINDSEY GRAHAM Have these overtures been successful?
If Mulvaney doesnt run against him, Sanford will, our source said. But Mulvaney might take another look at it.
Wow
Neither Mulvaney nor Sanford were immediately available for comment. Sources close to both lawmakers were also exceedingly tight-lipped about any U.S. Senate speculation.
For months, fiscally conservative S.C. Sen. Tom Davis (R-Beaufort) was viewed as the most likely challenger to Graham however Davis declined to run. In his stead, three candidates have stepped forward Lowcountry businesswoman Nancy Mace, S.C. Sen. Lee Bright (R-Spartanburg) and social conservative attorney Richard Cash.
A fourth challenger former lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Bill Connor is said to be close to jumping into the race.
Of Grahams declared opponents, Mace is the most electable although like Bright and Cash she is not widely known. Also none of Grahams announced opponents are expected to demonstrate much in the way of fundraising prowess assuming those numbers ever get released given the shuttering of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) during the partial government shutdown.
Obviously FITS will continue to monitor these latest developments in South Carolinas U.S. Senate primary which is scheduled for next June.
Maybe he can move to AZ and caddy for the Maverick...
Talk of existing federal elected officials running for the seat means the political machine wants to dump Lindsay and replace him with a new RINO who will do the bidding of business and political elites that support Obamacare and bigger debts, not to mention wars in Syria and who knows where else.
“Talk of existing federal elected officials running for the seat means the political machine wants to dump Lindsay and replace him with a new RINO who will do the bidding of business and political elites that support Obamacare and bigger debts, not to mention wars in Syria and who knows where else.”
You may be right. And it also means that the powers that be in the state smell blood in the water. Not a good sign for little lindsey, one of the most odious men in power today!
I remember when Lindsey Graham was being touted by Laura Ingram as a true Conservative. She helped bring him to national attention by giving him air time on her radio show. Same with Saxby Chambliss.
I’m not sure about Sen. Chambliss, but I guess in Graham’s case it was all a big act, to be forgotten as soon as he was safe in Washington.
It’s also possible that he actually was a Conservative at one point, but allowed himself to be co-opted by the Washington elitist reality distortion field.
Seven million war chest?
A senate race averages $10 million. A house seat averages $1.5 million. We have the best governance money can buy.
I remember that. And at the time Lindsey was thought of as a great conservative. I always enjoyed listening to him speak during the impeachment saga. And that was 2002, when we were trying to get the senate back after Jim Jeffords’ betrayal. Chambliss and Graham were among those elected that year. But they soon went soft, they came under the spell of John McCain and Mitch McConnell. And good riddance to them. Thank heaven for frequent elections!
That’s why we have to look outside the political system, political parties and political machine for new people to elect to office.
“Seven million war chest?”
That’s a lot of payoffs! And he’ll probably still lose. Those that donated will not be happy. And good riddance to their slimy influence and whisperings in the ear.
"...Mace is the most electable..."
> “...already vulnerable among GOP voters due to a host of ideological betrayals (including his support for energy tax hikes, internet tax hikes, amnesty for illegal aliens and domestic spying), Grahams tortured opposition to Obamacare...”
Also include his advocacy for solutions to the BS line about man-made global warning that shows that Graham is not only clueless but stupid. He is one of the major members of the cabal that gives rise to calling the Stupid Party the Stupid Party.
Happens to many who drink the Potomac water.
When I worked for the feds I got a promotion to DC. Came back to my field office to visit six months later and my old boss asked me if I recall any strange lighting in my work area during the afternoon? I asked what the hell was he talking about and he said you sound like they used the brain scrambler on you. They have these machines up in DC on tracks over the drop ceilings. During the afternoon when you get sleepy they activate it and afterwards you sound like the rest of the ass..les down there.
The good news for me, once you escape, the neurons realign and you think normally again.
It's not a reality distortion field. It's something much simpler.
As long as you play along with the Dem machine, and fold when they want you to, you can do as you please in DC. You can have mistresses (of either sex). You can take lobbyist-paid vacations. It's all cool.
But if you are seen as somebody who will NOT play along, you get the whole "Sarah Palin" treatment, and your whole life will be put on display.
Understand Lindsey now?
In a sense, all RINOS are cross-dressers.
Graham has been hammered on his FB page. People are angry. He posted that he voted against Obamacare. Posters called him on it.
BINGO!!!!
It’s not so much co-opted....though it’s kind of like that. It’s more human nature and being surrounded by a certain mindset. Once you’ve been immersed in that culture for 5,10,20 years - you have drifted a long way away from being the person you were first elected.
The weaker you are internally, and LG is very weak, the further you will slide. If you’re a man of strong character, like Jim DeMint, you will hold your ground and even more closer to your core root principles. Unfortunately, more people are like LG than DeMint.
Awesome!

Uh oh. Will 'FitsNews' Folks (Unfair. Imbalanced). Incapacitated? Srsly?!

My, but the plot thickens. "One source ....." stated a couple of times now. What is one to think? What DOES Will Folks know?!
Bottom line, Anybody But Graham. And the more the merrier in a "run-off" primary process. S.C. voters will pick the best ABG (and maybe LindaG doesn't even make the final two!). But this smacks of some behind the scenes scheming. Why weren't Mulvaney and Sanford throwing their hats in this race this summer? And at this point, all I see is Will Folks .... and his "one source". Hmmmmm.
