Sen. Clarie McCaskill (D-Mo.) accused Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) of not listening to voters in general but only the loud ones.
She told MSNBC that the moderates need to muscle up here.
You know, everybody on in this far extreme, unreasonable, irrational right, is afraid of somebody running against them from the right. And they need to be afraid of a moderate Republican running against them, said McCaskill, who defeated challenger Todd Akin in the last election cycle.
And people and Boehner really needs to show courage here. I know that hes calling this Cruzs shutdown. Boehner knows if he puts a clean funding resolution on the floor, it passes. And, you know, speakers have to do whats best for the country sometimes. And hes not. And he knows it, she continued.
And so, I really think Boehner needs to get some courage. Maybe he needs to take an afternoon off and golf and contemplate, and come back and put a simple six-week funding by the way, at their level, which we completely compromised on, at their spending level, get us through this six weeks, and then lets sit down and figure out how we pay our debts and bring down federal spending.
She added that most of us understand that there are very loud voices and then there are a lot of voices that dont make a lot of racket.
Ted is clearly totally enamored with the very loud ones that are an echo chamber for him, and doesnt realize how many Americans dont agree with him and how many and heres the thing, McCaskill said.
When he had a moment in the Senate after he did his big its-all-about-Ted show, how many Republicans voted with him in the Senate? The majority of them rejected him. Those 25 senators that rejected his tactic, they now need to really help the other Republicans find their way. It was only 19 that voted with Ted Cruz and 25 voted against him.

Um, I think I found the problem right there.
Go Ted.
There is nothing “moderate” about the Democrat agenda. McCaskill voted for Obamacare - which is an extreme left-wing agenda, and repeatedly votes to uphold it. We’ll go elsewhere for “moderate” advice, Senator McCaskill.
Speaking of McCaskill - where’s the outrage of Reid’s remarks, far worse than those of Akin, and Reid is a top Democrat leader of the country?
I wouldn’t spit on her or any other Democrat if they were on fire.
Oh sure . . . go fight on the Dems side again because McCaskill ordered you to, Boehner!
I am forever entertained watching the left make recommendations on how to their opponent should beat them. The sad thing is the idiot political class falls for it every time. (yeah, we’re looking at you, McCain)
People in MO need help in making their political choices. They seem to get them nearly all wrong.
You know what? They would not veering like a broken wind vane between vituperative and very conceding rhetoric if they were winning. This really is the sound of desperation. They would be smug and snarky if they were winning. They’ve never been like this before, and they’re on the losing side of this, and they know it. That’s why they’re pressuring so hard.
Oh, and nice hint of hers to Boehner about “playing golf”. Little Obama schmoozing?
And they’re trying to isolate Cruz in case the others want to “come in from the cold” so to speak. I hope he has a firm group of supportive colleagues in this. We need to show him we’re with him too-not behind him, but right beside him.
It was the opus operandi for Clinton, and now Obama.
They have ruined the lives of a number of good people using this strategy.
You notice that they will attack Cruz personally, but they don’t dare engage him on substance.
“Those 25 senators that rejected his tactic, they now need to really help the other Republicans find their way”
They’ll be preoccupied with primary challenges from real conservatives.
McRoadkill has clearly been emboldened by her 2012 victory. I hope she’s aware that she’s done for in 2018. We don’t miss twice.
Jealous much, Claire? I think the WWII vets had you pretty much sized up.
Mr. Cruz has exposed all the jealous and envious attention whores.
And the connivers, and the plotters, and the schemers, and the scurrying cockroaches and writhing worms.
Mr. Cruz, you are an amazing man, sir.
Hell, I thought this was going to be about Bill O'Reily.
I live in MO. Clair with the help of the democratic party, endorsed the largest idiot republican in the primary. With Millions of dollars. Guess who won that primary, and guess who got re-elected.
We had a lot of democrats from around the country help make that pick.
She sure did use a lot of namecalling there.
Maybe it was a record beating other Dems who just used 1 word to namecall Conservatives.
It’s all about the Constitution, Stupid.
“I wouldnt spit on her or any other Democrat if they were on fire”
Agreed
