They do indeed offer affordable healthcare without insurance.

Being uninsured simply means you save your own money and manage your own health rather than relying upon some distant 3rd party to not only do that for you but dictate what economic & life trade-offs you can make.

This is indeed the ideal way to manage healthcare, and just about the only way you can control price in this kind of market.

Like it or not health insurance does not effectively induce people to live healthy or make cheaper healthcare choices anymore than having someone elses credit card induce you to be financially conservative.

My son, the Obama loving liberal, cost $2500 to bring into this world 44 years ago. We just paid the bill.

When I told him this he was shocked.

Amen! I’ve been paying cash for years. I only go to doctors when I have to and thank God that’s not very often. I take no daily meds, try to eat healthy and exercise. I’m 57.

An example is dental insurance. By not having it, I make my own decisions based on the value of the choices I make. I get a discount for paying cash or check the day of my appointment. By the time the insured pay their premiums and deductibles, they pay about as much as I do.

I can see insurance for catastrophic diseases, but only with deductibles of $5000 or so. Any other health insurance is subsidizing unnecessary tests, insurance company profits, and the medical profession following the insurance companies guidelines, which are not always in my best interest.
