The White House session tonight was important, but perhaps an even more critical meeting for Speaker John Boehner took place earlier today in his Capitol office.
He met with a group of more than a dozen moderate Republicans, urging them to stick with him in what he acknowledged was an anxious and tense period during the government shutdown. Trust me, was the message relayed from Boehner, one lawmaker told ABC News.
No Shutdown Deal in Sight After White House Meeting A new grand bargain or the attempt at one could be in the works. Or thats one plan in Boehners strategy. The speaker and other House Republicans increasingly believe a deal on the budget impasse should be joined with talks on raising the debt ceiling. It would give his side more leverage in the negotiations. This was one topic of discussion at the White House tonight.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor hinted that some kind of compromise would ultimately happen from Republicans. Americans believe, as do we, neither side gets everything, he told ABC News earlier today.

Tea Party congress people should all vote for Pelosi for speaker. Once boner is gone turn around and nominate a true conservative. Then we’ll see if the “moderates” will stick with Pelosi. boner being speaker is not good.
Freepers please is this true? http://www.examiner.com/article/obamacare-can-be-defunded-without-senate-approval :Obamacare can be defunded without Senate approval:
The dems would say you can’t compare Dredd Scott to this. Rangel said you can’t compare obama voting against a budget increase when he was a senator to this.
Just trying to fool some of the people all of the time.
All Boehner cares about is not losing his seat.
We need to make it clear that if he betrays REAL AMERICANS, he is gone and so is the GOP.
May have something to do with this Drudge teaser:
“DEMS UNLEASHED: Angry name calling, bombastic insults, rhetorical bullying... Developing...
‘Jihad’...”
That’s right Eric, you four-eyed buttboy.
When the “moderates” have reason to trust the speaker, that means the left and the moderates get the goldmine while Americans get the shaft.
“One Department at a time, Mr. Speaker. This will break them. Do not back down.
That’s the Grand Plan (I hope); once the precedent is set, the House can control every budget ...”
That’s the way the Constitution set up the government to work. It is the House of Representatives under Pelosi and Boehner that abdicated its responsibility and agreed to the continuing resolutions demanded by Harry Reid and Obama. The House needs to reassert its responsibility for appropriations. Pass separate bills funding each department. Send them to the Senate. If Reid says the Senate won’t vote on them, it is Reid who is shutting down the government. No more continuing resolutions. No more 7% increase “baselines”. The baseline must be prior year spending.
“As far as I can throw him.”
Out, the next time he shows weakness.
I was expecting him and McConnell to sell out and snatch defeat from victory this evening.
He could be Speaker for the Dems and 18 RINOS right now.
SHUTDOWN 2014
How can you cast doubt on his trustworthiness when it's obvious to anyone with two brain cells that he doesn't have any?

Maybe boner means he knows they can win and that’s why he’s saying “trust me”. I doubt it because if that was the case he’d be telling Peter King to shut the hell up.
The dept-specific strategy WOULD succeed if the GOP were ever given any semblance of balance from the MSM.
Jake Tapper hosted a show tonite, w Dana Bash as one of his guests. Reid’s treatment of Bash, nor his abusive statement regarding children w cancer, was never mentioned.
Bash is an abused, DNC-battered whore and the American people will never be told the truth.
If the Dems had to contend w media bias for just one week, they would publicly collapse.
MSM is in overdrive to protect Reid. Imagine if Boehner, McConnell, or Cruz ever said anything similar.
Sounds like it has merit to me, and it’s the first defense for why Chief Justice Roberts ruled as he did that I ever read. Nice link.
Ted Cruz should get this opinion and look it over.
Rught now there isn’t an option to reverse without huge cost to Republicans with their base. The shutdown has happened the stupidity coming from so called moderates (progressives) is just dumb. They are hurting themselves and are going to find themselves in primaries because of their behavior. Some may be protected but there are plenty in red districts and in red states so they’d better get with it or its going to be bad for them. Any retreat now without real concessions from the Democrats would be real political suicide for the GOP. You can’t unbake this cake but you can get with it and use it as an opportunity to hammer Democrats and Obamacare which is coming apart at the seams.
Is there a list of which House GOP members are still fighting with Cruz and still going after Obamacare and trying to get the Senate and the WH to compromise?
I am interested in seeing a list and seeing who is still keeping the fight going in the House.
What a great idea.
He should be telling them to sit down and STFU.
Anyone trusting Boehner in anything related to conservative policy positions has lost their marbles.
The Roberts opinion was confounding several respects.
No doubt it would have been much better had he simply joined the four who wanted to toss the whole law.
But it was clear to me that his opinion was vastly different from the four leftists.
He did rip the teeth out of the law by saying that it “is not unlawful to not purchase health insurance.”
I tend to think that at the end of the day people won’t comply and the law will collapse under its own weight.
List the burdens on business and the climate of fear created by the uncertainty of the law that is so dangerous to the economy.
I’m hoping that the next serious challenge to the law will give Roberts a chance to put a dagger in the law, in case he regrets passing up the easiest way to do so last time.
