And people are going to post their private information to this “open source code” web portal. Just amazing. Well, count me out.

Wow. A lot of disparaging comments from folks who apparently don’t use a lot of open source software. The systems that FR runs on are open source, and yet quite secure and robust. If we’re going to end up having this evil monstrosity called obamacare, I’d much rather have it built fully out there in the open.

Bump, much better to have 100's of eyes looking at the code then a just couple of developers. Well vetted open source is the most secure code there is.

Only one downside, DO NOT BE FOOLED BY A PRETEND SITE. If the exchanges are in fact open source then it would be fairly easy to build a counterfeit. So be careful if you go to an exchange site.

Provided it's vetted before it's put into production.

If “OBAMACARE SUBSIDY HEALTH INSURANCE TAX,” aka OSHIT, is such a good “investment,” then why isn’t Mr. Michelle Obama enrolled in OSHIT?

This is OSHIT enrollment day number THREE, Barry: tick-tock - - -

Time and time again, open source software has had a proven trace record of safety and security. The majority of sites that do ask for your SS info and financial info are running on open source platforms. Apache is the most popular webserver on the planet.

FreeRepublic.com is not a secure website in any way, *for the members,* re their perspective of network activity that is beyond the physical servers used by FreeRepublic.com.

All communcations between members and the forum are in raw text -— that includes your username and password for your account.

You should NEVER sign on to FreeRepublic.com in an “open” / “public” network/WiFi setting.

An example would be, at a hospital, where leftists who disliked Breitbart, would also be interested in gaining the username and password used by another conservative patient. They smile at you and are very solicitious, as they gather that you are their ardent political opponent ... and [do NOT outwardly] thank you for signing on while waiting for, or recovering from, some procedure.

Another example would be, you wear your liberty colors - the U.S. Flag plus some emblem of FreeRepublic - yet you ignore how that gets the attention of the socially-networked as you wander thru Atlanta’s airport. You sit down to sign on to FreeRepublic.com, and just like that, your username and password are stolen.

Same for just about any “cafe” connection by you to the Internet. It is not safe ... for you.
