Around the Capitol Hill neighborhood: they have closed the Marine Barracks turf field to local soccer teams, which have used the field since it was built. (The Marines are pretty good at public relations, except when O-stooges get into the act.) Mind you, the barracks are open, and the guard shack is still in place, and there is no added cost whatsoever to kids playing on the field, which is just inside the gate.

We are also being told that Anacostia Park is closed. For those of you who don't know the area, Anacostia Park is nothing more than the floodplain on the left bank of the river across from the Navy Yard and Capitol Hill. It is a fine place to play football and softball; less fine for soccer, because of the decided slope towards the water, but teams use it nonetheless. It is nothing more than an open grassy field. I suppose if a bunch of ten year olds turned out to play soccer, they'd be arrested ....

This kind of thing is embarrassingly stupid. It is indicative of two things: the pettiness of Obama and his bitter band of hack underlings, and the jump-the-shark partisanship of the media. If a Republican president tried to tell little kids' soccer teams that they couldn't play on an open, unfenced, unguarded field ....

I don’t get why the House doesn’t look at defunding the guards now deployed.

None of these places had guards before and now they do?

Non-sense.
