“ I got a lovely salt and pepper shaker from there...
a beautiful lady reclining on a sofa whose one breast is
salt and the other Pepper!”

Actually that is one of my cherished memories from
vacation, before interstates. I think it was at some
place called “The mystery Spot” Defy gravity and
eat fresh baked buscuits OOOOzing with country butter.
Next rest stop 100 miles.

I haven’t traveled too far from home for some years now. Are there still Stuckeys out there?

so let me if I got this straight :

They don’t have money to continue operations?

So their solution is to BarryCade places that are open to the public 24 hours a day and ensure these places that didn’t have guards before are now . . . .guarded?

But, but, But,!!!! Before they wasted huge man hours and contracted with many firms to put these damned things up, which they “RENTED” for this Show Boating, they were damned sure to waste more money printing signs, Then paying someone to attach those signs to the Barryrs and buying all those zip ties as well?

Right

I lost my web site and can’t post pictures from my computer.

That photo needs a photo shopped White Hose on the Beach to be famous world wide

None of these places had guards before and now they do?

Security is a mix. The WWII memorial is an open site on the Mall. They had to go out of their way to barricade it. I suppose Park Police would routinely patrol the area, but I would assume they still do, since protecting federal property is an essential function. Plus the DC police can patrol.

Anacostia Park, which I referenced earlier, is just an open field, unguarded and patrolled very lightly. They've apparently told the youth teams that it's "closed," although I can't imagine what would stop you from just driving over and playing. Unless, of course, they've added security to arrest scofflaws who make a mock of the federal shutdown.

The Marine Barracks has its regular security, since it is an active military post. Nothwithstanding that, they've closed it to the youth teams. There is absolutely no reason it couldn't remain open, since the existing security arrangements are still operating.

It's not news to anyone here, but Team Obama is swerving way out of its lane to cause petty disruption and aggravation. These are just small concrete examples. It's stupid and spiteful.

Every day Crown Prince nobama exists he is humiliated. It is only now that this fool and anti-Free-America degenerate is beginning to realize it. I predict a “nervous breakdown” punctuated by erratic behavior and withdrawal.

FedGov™ may be shut down but the southern border is still wide open.

brilliant point! As ignorant as POTUS is, he could be fooled into thinking that there are veterans’ memorials all along the southern border. ;-)

"It's stupid and spiteful."

And the public needs to be made aware of it.

Funny you should mention the National Archives. There are probably Barrycades already there, no need to PhotoShop.

You forgot "childish," the "democratic" leadership's current favorite word.

But for normal adults no explanation is necessary.
For children of any age? No explanation is possible.

It’s symbolic too. The Marxists are telling the people where they may go, or not go. Bow before the all powerful government comrade.

WW II VETS: Normandy, was also closed we when got there!!!
...Hussein Obama
...tear down YOUR BARRYcades!!!

Interesting information/data tidbit. The WW II Memorial is PRIVATELY funded. It is an open facility accessible from adjoining sidewalks. How does Hussein Obama closed this facility? By what right?
National World War II Memorial
The National World War II Memorial was funded almost entirely by private contributions, as specified in Public Law 103-32. The campaign received more than $197 million in cash and pledges. Support came from hundreds of thousands of individual Americans, hundreds of corporations and foundations, veterans groups, dozens of civic, fraternal and professional organizations, states and one territory, and students in 1,200 schools across the country.

Donated and pledged funds were used to cover the total project costs of approximately $182 million. These costs include site selection and design, construction and sculpture, a National Park Service maintenance fee required by the Commemorative Works Act, groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies, fund raising, and the 11-year administrative costs of the project from its inception in 1993 through completion in 2004.

Remaining funds are held on deposit with the U.S. Treasury in a National WWII Memorial Trust Fund. The funds will be used by the American Battle Monuments Commission solely to benefit the World War II Memorial.

Probably, but I wanted one right in front of the Constitution's display case because no one will recognize the building.

Another target is replacing the famous pictures of the Brandenburg gate behind the Berlin Wall with various American monuments behind the Bar-lin Wall.
