Texas Senator John Cornyn is in trouble with the tea party.
At the Texas Tribune policy conference last weekend six tea party leaders were asked if want a strong candidate to challenge Cornyn in the Republican primary.
Five of them said yes.

Included in that group were former gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina, who now heads We Texans a limited government group; Northeast Tarrant County Tea Party President Julie McCarty; and Republican state representatives Matt Krause from Fort Worth and Jonathan Stickland from Bedford.
The fifth and most vocal critic was JoAnn Fleming. Her email list for Grassroots America reaches tens of thousands of tea party activists across the state. Shes also the liaison between state tea party groups and the legislature.
I believe that Sen. Cornyn has never been more vulnerable, said Fleming. If a credible candidate comes forward who can raise money, Sen. Cornyn will have a race on his hands.
Fleming says shes fed up with Cornyn for several reasons.
She says he served on a committee that raises money for Republican candidates but would not raise money for tea party contenders.
And she claims Sen. Cornyn has repeatedly declined to attend tea party town halls.
We dont like that because it makes him appear to be very establishment and we think elected officials work for us instead of the other way around, she said.
Fleming says the final straw was Cornyns decision to oppose the talkathon waged by Texas junior senator Ted Cruz who wants to pass budget legislation that defunds Obamacare, even if it shuts down the federal government. Her message to Cornyn:
If hes got a better idea we need to hear it.
Former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey who knows what its like to navigate the halls of Congress was the sixth member on the panel. He defended Cornyn.
Lets first recognize our senator is with us most of the time and we ought to be somewhat appreciative of that before we trade horses in midstream, Armey suggested, only to have Strickland heatedly jump in.
Strickland says Cornyn was dishonest in claiming he wanted to defund Obamacare.
The deception of acting like you are against something then voting to help it along thats where I have a serious problem.
A spokesperson for Cornyn responded to the criticism by saying the senior senator has repeatedly called for killing Obamacare he just disagreed with Cruzs tactics for doing that. She said that just last month Cornyn met with tea party leaders from Denton, Frisco and Addison, and hes led the Senate fight for adding a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
But for some tea party activists there appears to be a disconnect.
Fleming says shes talking with at least two elected officials who are interested in tea party backing for a primary campaign against Cornyn.
OUT!
OUT with the dead wood.
Thank Goodness Fleming is on it! The two others are not viable. One is a former contractor.
This is totally stupid. Cornyn will win the primary with about 80% of the vote.
This is where tea party goes off the rails.
Targeting the RINO’s needs to be done in any state, not just Texas. There are lots of RINO’s that need to be replaced everywhere.

He needs to go. Or needs to be pressured to stop acting like a dumb ass. If I was in Texas, I’d stay home because he’s doing more harm than good at this point. I realized what a loser he is in 2010 when he was funding Charlie Crist here in Florida against Rubio in an open seat primary. He’s the problem in Washington.
What, like Dewhurst?
Cornyn has conclusively shown that he is nothing more than an Establishment windbag who will stab the American People in the back when they need him the most. His cloture vote last week was yet another demonstration of his insincerity, ranking down there with Lindsey Graham.
John Cornyn can go to hell.
Guess Cornyn’s aides aren’t busy now that the government’s shut down.
Cornyn needs to go. It is disappointing that even one of the 6 Tea Party reps defended him. I hope this results in a strong challenger coming forth. I believe a strong challenger would do to Cornyn exactly what Ted Cruz did to David Dewhurst, with similar margins. I am from Texas and ready to work very hard to make that happen. We just need a candidate.
I don’t know the local politics, but if we don’t start these fights, we’ll never build a party infrastructure for the future. The future is not the GOP...
I just read this about Cornyn: “John Cornyn is just vomiting all over himself about the shutdown. He was positively worthless yesterday. The man who has been all over Texas yelling that he wants to defund Obamacare and if you dont believe him see his web ads made it perfectly clear hed like to surrender as quickly as possible.
Texas can thank God Almighty that John Cornyn wasnt at the Alamo. What an embarrassment.
Then there are John Boehner and Eric Cantors staff. Good grief. If you sprinkled salt on them theyd shrivel up.
I am not sure who wants to surrender faster House leadership staff or John Cornyn. They have done nothing but spend two months strategizing how to lose.”
This Texan will do what he has to in order to rid the Senate of this RINO. Cornyn crossed the Rubicon, it’s over for him.

Obviously losing to socialists pays well...: )
That's the NRSC that Cornyn chaired. He would not support:
Ken Buck
Sharon Angle
Christine O'Donnell
Joe Miller
Instead, he chose to support:
Arlen Specter
Charlie Crist
Lincoln Chafee
Lisa Murkowski
Thanks for that info. TP can be infiltrated the same as the US guvmint and the seat of the chief justice.
Ping. Let me know if you want to be added to / removed from BeatLamar ping list. Search keywords joecarr and beatlamar.
give me a conservative alternative, and I’ll be happy to vote for that person in the primary. Same thing I did twice, voting for Ted Cruz, whom the establishment said could not and should not win. Crony GOPe needs to go, and go now.
Yes, it’s important that we all roll over, shut up and generally just fuhgeddaboutit.
What it takes is someone big enough to step up. Ain’t gonna happen. Maybe the pretty boy espn analyst can run again. He should not have run the 1st time but now we may have a ‘job for you’ that no one wants. Same for Gov. Sanford(Gramnesty).
