Democratic Senator Carl Levin says House Republican leaders bowing to the Tea Party is the reason for the federal government shutdown.
Levin accuses the Tea Party of doing what the 9/11 terrorists could not: shut down the federal government.
“We weren’t shutdown on 9/11. We kept going. There was a physical attack on us,” Levin told reporters on a conference call today, “Now you got people who are doing an economic attack on us, saying they will not allow this government to function unless they get their way on a particular issue.”
Republican opposition to the Affordable Care Act is behind the standoff between House Republicans and Senate Democrats and the President in the budget stalemate.
Levin says he feels passionate about many issues, including gun control, but Michigan’s senior U.S. Senator says he would not shut down the government just because he’s not getting his way.
Levin adds the cost of restarting the federal government, depending on how long the shutdown lasts, could be in the billions of dollars.
Uhh... Wasn’t Congress in session and they all ran out of the Capital on 9/11? And my sister in law was on her way to work at the CDC and told to go home. Sounds like a shutdown to me.

Well now, "There was a physical attack on us " as a nation by someone outside our borders on 9/11 .
Now we have an attack from those within, and they are supposedly the guardians at the gate but our leaders
have allowed the enemy to come inside the walls, and have given the enemy guardian positions at the gate
and we still have no soverignty
and the enemy has exited from the great "Trojan Horse", and now you want us to remain silent ?
More to the point, he’s been in office since 1979!

I recall on 9/11 the helicopter logging job our trucks were on was shut down within about an hour of those attacks all the way out here in northern California. Didn’t Levin and the rest of them get together and sing on the capitol steps? Alzheimer’s is so sad.

America isn’t shut down just our parasitic government is. Americans are still working, producing and caring for their families. We aren’t shut down.

Apparently being 19 trillion dollars in debt doesn’t concern Carl Levin. Why should it concern him? The man has been living off of the taxpayers for years and wouldn’t know how to earn an honest dollar if his life depended on it.
