The White House said Tuesday that President Obama is blameless for the first government shutdown in 17 years. Asked by a reporter whether Mr. Obama bears any responsibility for the shutdown that began at midnight Monday, White House press secretary Jay Carney replied, Im not sure what you mean. It is his responsibility to try to work with Congress in the spirit of compromise, Mr. Carney said. He certainly did not vote to shut the government down. He’s not going to get blamed for this, for sure. But, I can’t say the same for his buddy Harry Reid, so he’s not going to smell like a rose either.

I can’t understand why so many GOP are scared of being blamed for the shutdown. They were supposed to be destroyed by “Sequester,” too. But in the end, “Sequester” turned out to be an absurd joke — hardly to the demise of the GOP. And elephants are supposed to have long memories....?
