Like Ted Cruz, I understand that in order for a successful opposition party [neo-GOP] to grow and thrive and beat back the Socialist DemocRAT menace, those who identify themselves as 'libertarian' need to be a part of the voting block.

However, the libertarians also need to act rationally as well. Ken Cuccinelli in VA (0bama won the state in '12) DOES embrace small government, personal liberty (which does not include a right to murder) and self determination (which does not include a redefinition of the meaning of 'marriage').

IF ONLY we could support each other's VIRTUES the way the Dem libs support each other's VICES!

What has Cucinelli done to embrace big government and alienate libertarians?

And what will Sarvis do, as part of the McAuliffe administration, to shrink government???????

Sarvis vote = McAuliffe vote

Cuccinelli is the only sane choice for Virginia

It is indeed. Cucinelli is not just some "lesser of two evils" establishment Republican. I mean, I can almost see voting Sarvis is that is the case - but it's NOT the case. And McAuliffe is not some average Democrat - he's the skunkiest of the skunkiest Democrats. Sarvis is a poseur who's trying to create a name for himself by running (hell, Huckabee did it).

Sarvis wants to tax carbon emissions. Can you get any more “big government” than that?

In contrast, Cuccinelli recognizes manmade global warming for the ridiculous hoax it is. He used state anti-fraud laws to go after that shyster, Michael Mann, and the University of Virginia for harboring him.

You need to wake up.

LOL, I know, right? A prime example of the wimpification of the American male. The fruitcake ought to have a beanie with a propeller on his head.

I am awake. Thank you for your concern.

No true libertarian, regardless of the size of the “L”, promotes bigger government in any form. This just proves my suspicion that Sarvis is a leftist stalking horse. Furthermore, it appears the Libertarian Party in Virginia is due for a purge because of this.

I still maintain that if the GOP went back to its roots as the party of small government, individual liberty and personal responsibility (IOW presented an alternative to statist progressivism) they wouldn’t be losing elections because of some leftist twerp (think Ross Perot) being presented as the alternative to the status quo due to his party label.

What state agency has Cuccinelli proposed to eliminate? Which department budgets will he cut? Does VA really need vehicle emissions inspections, a state trooper behind every billboard, and a ban on radar detectors? Has he proposed to reign in unconstitutional property confiscations done without and/or before crime convictions? This isn’t a comprehensive list of questions, but it’ll do for now.

Hmmmmm.

I don’t live in VA. It seems from the slate of two socialists and a fascist that I would vote for the status quo fascist, and I hope Cuccinelli wins, but he isn’t good, just the least of three evils.

Agreed. I just hope certain self appointed judges of orthodox conservatism around here don’t see that. ;-)

I don’t waste time with fantasy island idgets.....blaming Cucinelli for a bloated govt that he did not create. This is why you aren’t taken seriously. Enjoy the purity of your own irrelevance.

I’m not asking you to waste your time. Cuccinelli didn’t create the bloated VA state government singlehandedly. All us “idgets” on Fantasy Island know that.

Furthermore, I don’t expect a GOP nominee to embrace ALL of those issues I mentioned, but would one or two of them be so bad?

As irrelevant as it may seem to you, ol’ Ken does not have any proposals to actually SHRINK the VA state behemoth’s size or authority in any significant way, and that fact should irritate you at some level. If he had, the LP candidate wouldn’t be presenting such a problem.

The Democrats nominated a Socialist as expected. Somehow, the LP got punked with another Socialist nominee. As usual the stupid party nominated another statist “conservative”, that I do hope gets elected in spite of his policies because he is the least of the possible evils.

Fantasy Island out.

Yep, reality tough for you to swallow. The next governor is going to be either Cooch or McAuliffe. Period. All those who vote for Sarvis will suffer is McAuliffe wins. Sarvis? Oh, he;ll be fine, because his new found fame will land him a spot on MSNBC or somewhere - he’s using the libertarians for his own career aims. and the fantasy islanders are not smart enough to figure it out.

Don’t tell me you think I belong to the Libertarian Party too. I just want the GOP to put more distance between itself and the Donks instead of continuing to the left searching for the elusive “moderate” voters.

Ask non voters, who far outnumber members of either party, why they don’t bother to vote, and 75% of the time they say something like “There isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between them”. You and I don’t believe that necessarily, but looking at the ever increasing size, expense and intrusiveness of government at all levels regardless of which party is in charge, I can see their point and I believe you can too.

This idget is working within the GOP to change that perception by working to make the GOP a real alternative to ever growing statism.

I hope Ken wins. If he does, I’ll supply a golf clap.

You trolling for Sarvis, bro?

People that are trying to help McAwful get elected over a conservative Republican aren’t welcome here.

Should the GOP ever re embrace small government, personal liberty and self determination, gadflies like the one in this race will vanish.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that.

I’m not holding my breath. I’m working within the GOP system to bring it about.

I know how to get it done, but NOOOO, most small government people are whiney assed babies who get their widdle feewings hurt at the first sign of resistance from the establishment, go off to start a third party which is immediately co-opted by socialist provocateurs. (No better example of this is the Libertarian nominee Sarvis who supports carbon credits and is ergo a crackpot statist! There is no unflawed logic that can be used to assail that point. Don’t try.)

When I tell people how it can be done, and the success I and my compatriots have had in changing the GOP at the local and District level, and will be done in my State at the next convention, they complain about the effort and time required. We may not have enough time, but time will be shorter tomorrow than it was today. Furthermore, the fewer people we have helping, the longer it will take.

Many third partiers and GOP deserters have their hearts in the right place, but their heads are up their asses and their asses are in the wrong place.
