It is a great essay isn't it? But thanks goes to Kimmers for first posting this gem.

My father and all my uncles were WWII vets and in my mind's eye I can see them storming the barricades at the Memorial too.

I pray that their essence remains.

So true. My uncle was killed at Leyte. Grew up hearing about WWII all the time. Kids today know nothing about it. .
