As the death toll for Government Shutdown Apocalypse 2013 continues to grow, it appears that the EPA’s plans to make it even more expensive for Americans to drive a car were “shut down” by the government shutdown.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will take one of the biggest hits of any federal agency if the government shuts down this week, operating with under 7 percent of its employees, according to guidance issued by the agency.
Just think of how much less the EPA will be able to do with only 7 percent of its employees. That EPA SWAT Team may have to sit out the week. Someone else will have to send $700,000 to Thailand’s pig farmers. And someone else will have to hike fuel prices.
Among those furloughed would be most workers at the Office of Air and Radiation, which is in charge of writing and implementing most of the EPA’s major air pollution rules. The clock would also stop, for now, on the EPA’s eagerly-awaited proposal on renewable fuel volume standards for 2014.
Who exactly is eagerly awaiting this proposal? Drivers who can’t wait to pay a buck more for gas.
Gas prices will increase about $1 per gallon by 2015 and take a $550 billion bite out of Americans take-home pay when the Environmental Protection Agencys (EPA) Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) increases the ethanol mandate past the 10 percent blend wall.”
Sadly the evil government shutdown may delay the environmentalist push for Electric Poverty in America
“People are not going to be able to be working on these rules at home,” said Dina Kruger, an environmental regulation consultant and former climate change director at the EPA, who worked at the agency when the government shut down in 1996.
Sure.
EPA employees won’t write arbitrary rules that steal money out of the pockets of hardworking Americans unless the Americans pay them first.
“Permitting does not qualify (as essential), so people should expect delays in permit processing and other licensing and approval processes,” said Scott Fulton, former EPA general counsel until January this year and an attorney at Beveridge and Diamond.
“This is a decidedly bad thing for the country. Everybody pays, including the regulated community.”
Gulag employees furloughed. Gulag prisoners waiting for meals hit hardest. There is a solution though. Free the prisoners.
Does anybody think jacking up the price of gas by a buck *is not* an “essential service?”
this is not about some detail about what the EPA say thy are doing this is about government doing things it's not supposed to be doing. you want to get us involved in the minute details of what they say . the whole EPA should be abolished. you seem to think that there is some legitimacy to the EPA , so much so for us to be discussing details of what they say their policies are. The EPA is not really worth discussing nor looking into all we should know is that it should be abolished.
you seem to trust government ,and the EPA ,what they say , etc.
gov is unaccountable . no one knows what this EPA is doing, well you seem to think you know , you must be so cool and so smart . actually not.
the fact that 99.99% of Americans have no idea what the EPA, nor most of these government agencies are doing proves that the federal government is unaccountable and must be abolished except for the military and border control. the government is supposed to be accountable to the people .how are they accountable if people don't know what they are doing? how many knew about this even on this political site.not many , much less for the low info average joes
Just shows that no one knows what the EPA nor these government agencies are doing. so the government agencies are completely unnacountable to the American peopple. gov in America is supposed to be accountable to the American people., the fact that most Americans have no idea what these government agencies are doing shows that government and its agencies are unnaccountable and must bu abolished ,except for the military and border control.
a private business is accountable to it’s customers, to the bottom line . the EPA, IRS etc are not accountable to anyone
and so must be abolished. what has happened to the IRS after the IRS
Really? Ya think? I am guessing my husband would beg to differ.
Seriously though--there is SO much of this crap--I can't keep up.
It's every day. Something new and worse.
Oh, but there are people paying attention, and they know how to get the EPA to do their bidding, because it means everything to their personal bottom line.
I really like the piecemeal funding proposals put forth by the GOP. Keep the spending flat, cut out the egregious stuff we don’t like, and then repeat.
That’s an agency that should be abolished root and branch. End of story.
Your idea has merit.
They are planning to get the sulfur level near that of the now ultra low sulfur Diesel that’s been mandated for a few years now.
I cannot begin to understand how you jumped to that false conclusion based upon what I have written.
I did confuse one new gasoline requirement with another new gasoline requirement as I had two threads on the two topics open.
The EPA provides a lot of restrictions that slow up work in my industry in the oil/gas/petrochem.
While you can wish all you want for it to be abolished, I have to deal with their regulations, and far too many other federal regulations, on a daily basis. Pretending it isn't reality and not discussing the impacts may suit you. However, I actually do work based upon the crap they put out.
The diesel engine wrecker fuel. What I have that can run on red diesel runs better on that than the ULSD.
Now how could you possibly know that?
;-)
7%? Where did you come up with that number?
Zero would be more like it.
Good point.
Tractors. All off road. Not worth the price of poker :)
Diesel has more BTUs per gallon, it should cost more.
Well I said no President could get re-elected with $4/gallon gas, 8% unemployment, and rapidly rising food prices.
You saw how that worked out....
Where do you live? In Indiana our total fed + state fuel tax is 57 cents. 57/335=17%
Since it’s established that there has been no climate warming going on 16 years and the UN-IPCC reports that all the Global Warming aka Climate Change has been discredited. Then the $64 question is...WHY IS THE EPA ALLOWED TO DO THIS?
