(CNN) -- The worst possible outcome for the country from the impasse over the continuing resolution that would prevent a government shutdown would be for House Republicans to cave.
This is a pivotal conflict that will define the relationship between Congress and the executive branch for the next three years. The country will be much better off if Congress does not abdicate its constitutional role and if the president cannot ignore that role.
When President Barack Obama is willing to negotiate with Russian, Syrian and Iranian leaders but unwilling to negotiate with the U.S. House of Representatives, it is time for the House to stand firm.

Yep
It’s time to really take impeachment seriously.
Newt gets it, Tammy Faye doesn’t. Look for a cave in by Midnight.
don’t cave....don’t cave...don’t cave....
When asked why they “let it” shut down by the sycophantic Zero King lover reporters, every Repub should tell the DNC shill/”reporters” that the Dems shut it down by playing brinksmanship over Obamamcare and took the government not just to the edge, but over it, by not passing the House bill.
Indeed, Newt does nail it.
Oh, yeah, Newt Gingrich is just the guy to give pointers on how to win a showdown with the President....
” We are going to take Saul Alinsky’s Rules for radicals and we’re going to turn it on them ,and we’re going to drive it through them and we’re going to take this country back “
Allen West
Stand strong , forward to the foe , charge !
Shut it down until we have paid off at least 75% of the debt.
Let the friggin no good lazy ass government workers find other work. We don’t need most of them anyway. They act like WE are THEIR servants instead of the other way around.
Time to put these people back in their places!
The Republicans in Congress should spend every minute of the government shutdown standing in the speakers’ platforms of the House and Senate repeating ObamaCare’s most alarming statistics ad infinitum:
For example, ‘’A family of four making $______ a year in New York state will be required to pay an additional $_______! each month in healthcare premiums under Obamacare.’’ On and on, mentioning every state, possibly getting into specific horrendous cases. Just keep talking.
Oh, yeah, Newt Gingrich is just the guy to give pointers on how to win a showdown with the President....

Things went south for newt personally but, the pubbies picked up extra house seats in the next election, got a raft of legislation favorable to them passed subsequently and went on to win the next presidential election. The actual shut down of government under newt was a blip. In the end it made clinton look good. Why? Because the pubbies slowed government spending long enough for the booming economy to produce the tax revenue that balanced the budget.
Same thing is going to happen with Obama. If they follow through by holding down govnernment spending while the economy grows—Obama will leave office with a nearly balanced budget.
If the supreme court declares obamacare unconstitutional come november or december — then the economy explodes and the federal budget balances with the added revenue of a fast growing economy.
Maybe they could work flipping burgers or stocking shelves. Oops. Those jobs are taken by underemployed college grads. May bad.
This stalemate is a direct result of something being forced onto Americans that does NOT belong here. Obamacare is INCOMPATIBLE with our Constitution. 0bamacare is a threat to the religious freedoms of Catholics and Christians, for starters..
The Boston Tea Party and the CW started over matters far less threatening to our freedoms than Obamacare!
Chief Justice John Roberts was blackmailed! There is no other possible explanation for his UNCONSTITUTIONAL decision.
Oh, yeah, Newt Gingrich is just the guy to give pointers on how to win a showdown with the President....
Cruz hasn’t written a book yet, he is fine so far...
The GOPe Railroaded Newt out of the house...
I am sure you are right. They have priors, and never pass up a chance to tick us off.
Newt is spot-on.
I wonder (sarcasm) when the lame stream media will talk about the do nothing Senate under Harry (red) Reid? They haven’t passed a Budget for at least 4 years. They should abolish the worthless Senate, for all the good it does.

Obviously, they must have something on him.
