Idaho Republican Rep. Raul Labrador confronted MSNBC Hardball anchor Chris Matthews over his insistent claims that Republican terrorists were threatening a government shutdown to defund Obamacare.
Labrador reminded Matthews that his one-time boss, former Democratic Speaker of the House Tip ONeill, was partially responsible for a number of government shutdowns while Ronald Reagan was president and yet Matthews had never referred to ONeill as a terrorist as he has with Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

Tip and Jimmeh did not get along well!
Matthews must have upchucked the dildo he was sitting upon when Labrador gave him “what-for”.
Zer0 is a number, as I learned in Elementary School.....
... But when you say were going to get rid of the number one program that you put into law and put in the history books, and your partys been fighting for, for half a century, you cant say, Give me that. Thats a non-negotiable stand. Thats the problem.
So, great. Matthews is basically here admitting the Obama Administration would shut down the government over pride. Why am I not surprised.
17 times - just in case the low-information crowd is tuning in.
I incidentally heard some of the exchange with the Pantload on M-t-P yesterday (believe me, I don’t go looking for this program). Chrissy stated that Obama would never agree to anything in negotiations [sic] that would “kill his baby” (ACA).
Interesting turn of the phrase here — it seems that Obama has no qualms about “punishing MY children with HIS ‘baby’...”
I've seen several different numbers stated for the Tip O'Neill shutdowns. Do you have a link that has them all documented and sourced?
Nice try Chris...government shutdowns are rarely just about getting the ‘numbers to work’ and certainly the shutdowns under Tip O’Neil were no exception. He seems to have forgotten about the shutdowns in 1977, 1978 and 1979— a whole bunch of shutdowns, many of which lasted for one or two weeks or more I believe. The debate wasn’t over the money so much as the politics of funding medicaid and abortions. Some things never change.
thanks lowbridge.

Yep, that pegs the irony meter all right.
Fair distinction. Though I tend to use the two terms as nearly synonymous, “pride” can also be used to describe a concern for doing the right thing, not something I would associate with Obama & company. Good point.
anyone remember when media was outraged that anyone would dare consider Obama a terrorist by associating him with Bill Ayers?
