As Mr. Pauls and Mr. Cruzs recent filibusters on the Senate floor have shown, the 2016 quest for the White House is well underway. A fierce battle among the new small-government, libertarian stars is already raging.
That has left a growing number of conservative activists voicing concerns publicly about a scenario that would let a moderate Republican like Mr. Christie slip through the cracks of a movement divided between such strong conservative personalities as Mr. Paul, Mr. Cruz and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
It seems like a broken record every four years: a number of conservatives run against one or two moderates apparently theres no such thing as a liberal Republican the conservatives cancel each other, and the moderate ekes out a primary win, lamented Media Research Center President L. Brent Bozell.
Pollsters see the same scenario in 2016 based on current data.
The pattern in recent cycles suggests that the GOP will ultimately settle on a more establishment candidate as a result of a continued split among conservatives, pollster and campaign strategist Matt Towery said.

LOL! Did you even read the analysis? Your knee-jerk response kind of tells me you didn't. I know it's long, but you ought to give it a try.
So many flaws here:
A: way too early to worry about this...the 16 elections will not take shape until the 14s are over and we see what the 15-16 congress looks like and what they do, or don’t do.
B: Jeb will split the Christie vote.
C: As of now, Cruz would not be challenged by anyone else....Paul wouldn’t be a blip. Things may change of course....
If you run that fat liberal bastard there will not be enough of you republicans voting to come close to beating the dim. YOU gop/e HAVE BEEN WARNED!
I would vote for a can of orange juice before I voted for Christie. Although I said the same thing about Romney. So I am known to fold.
One could argue that Romney was a subtle difference in strategery in that he had been a State Governator rather than a (non-executive) Senator.
I think the GOPe strategery has been to increasingly ignore the "base" and now that that has become obvious, they are now between the strong lee shore wind and a rock.
But we let them lead us along, and this time it looks like we may be back to doing it to ourselves again.
What are we going to do to keep it from happening in 2016?
I know what I think we ought to do: have a complete tea party national convention to settle on an endorsed candidate before the primaries even begin.
I’m not voting for Christie...
I am banned at Washington Times... they are full of crap...
No more, we’ve have Obama for 8 years after holding my nose and voting. I will not vote again holding my nose.
I recall Newt, Rick, Bachmann, Cain, etc all beating up on each other letting Romney off the hook, until real late when most were eliminated.
lil Jebbie and Christie splitting the RINO vote....thats easy to see and I agree. I think the no is Cruz’s for the taking...and of course Paul wont have a chance..but may run as a third party.
To his credit Paul has a great network and has a solid following. This will get interesting.
Not sure what that means. It's a public URL, anyone can click and open it. Unless you've got one of those CIA implants in your teeth?
You forgot the Bush 1 and 2.
