Unfortunately shutting down govt is EXACTLY why Obama and Reid are doing this. They know the media will exaggerate the effects and place all the blame on the GOP and the Tea Party. The result will be that Obama’s last two years will see him in control as much as he was in his first two years. The GOP will be a rump organization and the Tea Party will be able to have its rallies in a MacDonalds. In 2016 Clinton will win 45 states. Why? Because shortsighted conservatives allowed their hatred of all things Obama to keep them from thinking rationally. Obamacare was going to fail miserably. The Right should have let it and gone on to win in 14 and 16. What could the GOP have done? Boehner and Cantor should have gone to SCOTUS the moment Barky suspended the employer mandate. As leaders of the House they had legal standing to ask the Court to declare Barky’s action as deliberately not carrying out laws passed by Congress and unilaterally acting as his own legislative branch. They would have won, embarrassed Barky and shown the catastrophic effects the employer mandate would have. Instead they chose shut down. They are, in the words of Jeremiah Wright, stuck on stupid!!
Now that we know what will not work, what is your solution and how do you know it will work?
I read your post and I’m still wondering if it’s satire?
OK. Let’s start with your premise that we will see the rat wing of the uniparty in control in 14 or 16. It’s a false premise: most House members have their districts so carefully gerrymandered that they could get caught in bed with a dead girl, a live boy, and a donkey named Bob and still keep their seats in the general election. Sure, there are some who lose their seats, but most of that is in the primaries. Most seats aren’t even close to being competitive.
The Senate is usually more volatile as the states are larger and not gerrymandered. So it would be possible that the Senate could tilt more on the ‘rat side. But you have to ask the question: would we even notice? With the majority of gop Senators openly taking the other side on mcconnelcare, why should we even care?
As for the shut down, I think that most people at this point don’t much care. The shut down apocalypse drum has been beaten so many times that it just doesn’t have an effect. The LSM is going to have a hissy fit regardless. Unless you are in MD or parts of VA, the shut down is irrelevant to you. The EBT cards will still work, the social security checks will still be cut, and nothing much will happen that you’ll notice.
Why? Because shortsighted conservatives allowed their hatred of all things Obama to keep them from thinking rationally.
That is a major Democrat talking point, and has been for a long time now. You are not one of us, bucko.
