The White House is getting ready to launch a major fall blitz for immigration reform...

While Washington may be consumed in the latest continuing resolution crisis and debt ceiling drama, it’s also just days away from massive new push on an issue many had written off months ago.

The political imperatives driving the latest immigration effort are clear: Obama can’t just abandon an issue that he promised to deliver on during his last campaign without suffering a major backlash from activists who helped elect him, and congressional Democrats are anxious to make sure Latino voters are motivated to punish Republicans at the polls in the 2014 mid-term election if there’s no law on the books by then.

Then dare Goodlatte and Gowdy to sponsor an amnesty bill with Luis, Grijalva and Pelosi.

The NBPC begins the press release by explaining that the Border Patrol has chosen to use the already diminished funding for the U.S. Border Patrol Agency to place cameras in BP vehicles. “The decision would cost millions of dollars at a time when Border Patrol agents are lacking basic resources to secure the border and a long-overdue pay reform package,” according to the release. “This is a knee-jerk reaction by CBP that will result in agents hesitating to use force to defend themselves, resulting in more injured and murdered agents,” said Shawn Moran, Vice President of National Border Patrol Council. “It’s wrong to place these men and women in even greater danger than they’re already in to placate the demands of a few fringe organizations.” The release also states that BP agents are unable to secure the "porous" border due to budgetary constraints. This reporter confirmed these assertions on recent tours of the U.S./Mexico border, where I witnessed miles upon miles of unsecured, wide-open border.
