Wishing God to be with someone is not QUITE the same as “God speed.” God when with someone may do the opposite of “speed” — He may halt someone who is doing evil, to get them to realize that they need to turn back to His goodness (technical word is repent, but we have laden that term with so much religiose baggage that it can be ill understood).
Barack may not have meant this... but again I think of the haunting account of how the chief priest, when advising the Pharisees about Jesus, said something that sounded like what the Pharisees were bent upon, but was quite opposite.
By all means let us pray... please let God BE with this crazy and evil man... so he will stop and cease being crazy and evil. Someone told me not too long ago about Muslims receiving Jesus ... in dreams, which seems to be the Islamic way of getting special revelations. Jesus, not being too proud to stoop to pagan expectations, will use exactly that method to reveal Himself. I do not put any miracle beyond the Lord, and times of great trouble are also often times of great miracles.
But that’s not what Obama wished him. The phrase “khoda hafez” is understood to be a reference to Allah, to those who use it (Khoda being interchangeable with Allah).
Anyway, the word translated “god speed” in 2 John 1:10-11 is actualy “khairo”, which is devoid of references to any deity.
There were two evil men on that phone call...one at each end.
I take it literally- God is NOT with them- hence the wish for God TO be with them.
