This wont surprise Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid or GOP old bull Sen. John McCain -- the largest chunk of the Republican Party is now very conservative.
According to a new PPP poll, which has Sen. Ted Cruz the top choice for the 2016 Republican nomination, those who describe themselves as very conservative make up 39 percent of the splintered party. Add in those who consider themselves somewhat conservative, and the right-leaning voters comprise 76 percent of the party.
In the new poll of 743 Republican primary voters, 1 percent called themselves very liberal, 4 percent somewhat liberal, and just 18 percent as moderate.
Among the conservative voters, Cruz is the leading choice for the GOP nomination. He won 34 percent of that group. But he also shows remarkable crossover as 32 percent of the very liberal crowd also prefer him.

Buh-bye!, GOP-E! You brought this on yourselves, and I relish the taste of your tears.
Carter gave us Reagan. Obama gives us Cruz? That would be awesome.
Not sure what y’all are referring to but, if there is an issue, the dems won’t let it pass like the GOP!
It’s the first sign of hope for Christians and conservatives I’ve seen in years and years.
They managed to find a “severely conservative” choice last time...
He seems smart enough not to forget how to count to 3 like Perry...
Well, you see, the way it works is this:
Republican low-information voters: "I really like Cruz! He speaks my values! I could vote for him!"
GOP Establishment: "Congratulations! We've chosen Jeb Bush!"
Republican low-information voters: "Oh, OK. He's got an 'R' after his name, right? So that's all that counts!"
Cruz vs Hillary is not a good idea... The media will easy just paint him as another white male the GOP is running against the poor harmless female... You guys do know that over half the country does not vote based on policy or reputation, right?
Easily*
Run a Conservative and it really won’t matter who the DIM/LIB/Commies run. The LIB/DIM/Commie person could be 1/2 black, 1/2 latin, a woman, lesbian tranny in a wheel chair who has AIDS and is an orphan. If a real Conservative runs against the DIMs, people who have hesitated to vote will come out and flush the LIB/DIM/Commies down the drain. So many Conservatives will vote that we might, just might, have a chance at saving Free America.
Absolutely—he is incredibly articulate, but in a humble and non-condescending way. Very learned but able to be plain spoken and not talk down to people.
A decent and regular guy who is comfortable in his own skin.
Wow—he’s got a better physique than I’d realized, too.
So whom do you propose to run against Hillary?
So 76% of conservatives don’t care what the constitution says about who is eligible for president. Just as long as they get the person they want. Sounds and awful lot like what I used to call a democrat to me.
I have nothing against Cruz. In fact I think he should be someone important like Speaker of the House. But I will not be a hypocrite.
You’ve been here **15 years** and won’t vote for Cruz?
Somehow I don’t think so.
“The media will easy just paint him as another white male “
Did you buy into the media’s newly invented term, “white Hispanic” during the Zimmerman trial? Cruz is Hispanic; not “white”. That could serve to level the playing field a bit — a hag lesbian white woman vs. a Hispanic. Who knows? Dems will cheat, anyhow, so it really doesn’t matter.
Dear Harry Reid and John McCain:
76% of us ARE NOW TEA PARTY...
Have a really stellar day.
I'm no big fan of Michael Savage but I will say that if Sean Hannity did not keep putting on the likes of "the Architeque" Karl Rove on his show whenever news was breaking he'd probably still have his Talk Radio time slot instead of Savage Nation.
Hope they remember in the primaries and pull the lever to flush all the RINOs down the bowl.
I’ve gone independent.
Aint no republican any more. They can kiss my Confederate a$$
Let’s see if Ted can lure me back.
I won’t vote at all before I vote for a rino.
