God’s busy extending love to a world which, of yet, is still mostly refusing it.
If you have the slightest idea that any human sin is beyond gospel power to displace with God’s righteousness and grace for any reason beyond human refusal, then chuck that idea out at once. God never told the world “Do you feel lucky, punk” like a celestial Dirty Harry even though He would have every right to do it. As the bible says, God is not like us, His thoughts are higher, and that doesn’t just mean the myriads of details. That means in fundamental character. Holiness is also inexorably loving. God would even rather let someone choose hell, with all the freakish delight that it takes in hating God, than to wipe his soul out of existence.
