Hong Kong (CNN) -- At least 19 people have been stung to death by hornets -- which may include the world's largest hornet species Vespa mandarinia -- in China's central Shaanxi province in the last three months, according to the city government of Ankang, the apparent epicenter of a recent spate of fatalities and injuries.
A total of 583 people in the area have been stung by hornets since July 1, say city officials. Seventy victims are still recovering in hospitals.

I know a guy that uses 22 snake shot on Bumble bees.
I don’t think it would take one of these down!
Won’t happen - too many people were brainwashed when it was banned - And the junk science behind the ban of DDT is even worse than the junk science behind AlGore’s GloBULL Warming fraud.
How many millions have died because of the ban on DDT, one of the most effective pesticides ever invented (and it was safer than many of today).
Holy smokes! If those were any larger, they’d need N numbers.
Great, now I’m going to have nightmares after seeing that.
You need 20mm AAA battery against those...
“Wont happen - too many people were brainwashed when it was banned “
Oh, I know, but I love running up the blood pressure on liberals. If I make only one head explode, it’s worth it...
Mental note, if attacked run 26 MPH.
Shotgun.
Or a flamethrower. Maybe, in the event of a swarm, a battlefield tactical nuke might be what’s needed.
iller hornets. Killer bees. Killer tomatoes. Killer aps.
Its getting ugly out there...
Use the buddy system. Then you don’t have to outrun the hornets - you just have to outrun your buddy.
These wasps eat bees for breakfast. Literally.
No problem. I would run at speeds up to 26 mph if they were after me!
Instead of building grandiose Ghost Cities just to keep the peasants forever busy and peaceful, the Chinese should devote their best minds to solving this out of proportion challenge of nature. They have no pesky EPA blocking their every step as over here.
It may be that while the Chinese are enjoying some benefits of small C capitalism, the prevailing attitude of the governors is not to place all that much value on the lives and safety of ordinary people.
Yeah, that works for one bear. Not sure it will work for hundreds of hornets.
You’d think they would have learned after creating killer bees to be a little more careful.
I had a nest in my carport this summer. After killing hundreds with fly traps with no apparent decrease in hive activity, I read up on them and learned that by the end of the summer the average hive will have 90,000 and possibly 900,000 bees.
I called the exterminator. He only got stung 3 times.
Mental note, if attacked run 26 MPH.
I'm given' her all she's got capn'!
Have you ever been bit by a dead bee?
