A total of 583 people in the area have been stung by hornets since July 1, say city officials. Seventy victims are still recovering in hospitals.

I've seen footage of a handful of these hornets--and they are big (hummingbird size)--wipe out an entire beehive. Hope they never get established here.

Bees can kill them, with some effort. They somehow raise the Co2 levels around the wasp, thus killing it. Bees can tolerate higher Co2 levels than the wasp can.

I would love to watch a ‘Giant wasp vs. Africanized killer bee’ grudge match.

I saw some science show where they showed that and they raise the temp inside their hive when attacked.

I was thinking they raised the temperature, which apparently the hornets don’t tolerate very well.

Funny story. Client tells me that she has a yellowjacket nest that needs the Agent Orange treatment. I say, "ok" (even though it's not my responsibility), and walk up. I'm not afraid of them.

I promptly get stung four times in about 20 seconds. I walk down, and ask my client "what the eff? why are these guys so pissed-off?" She replies, "I dumped some manure on their heads." I say, "thanks for letting me know."

That's no joke. And they can fly at speeds up to 25 mph.
