U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) has released the following statement on Obamacare and the House-passed continuing resolution (CR) currently under consideration in the Senate:

“If Majority Leader Reid insists on granting himself the power to gut the House-passed bill with 51 votes, while preventing me and other Senators from even offering amendments with broad bipartisan support, I will vote against cloture on the bill.”

I see Cornyn touting that Manchin’s breaking away from Obamacare, but that doesn’t seem to be the case to me. Manchin’s talking about a one-year delay in the individual mandate, not defunding or repealing the law.
Hmmmm. I wonder why Toomey felt the need to make this statement..maybe he’s been getting an earful, faxful, tweet-ful, inbox full of people screaming...??

I wish I could find some statements from John Cornyn. As far I know he is voting FOR cloture.

On the Five last night Bob Bekel said that obamacare is a right guaranteed by the constitution. The other four must be idiots because the first thing they should have pointed out to that fat liberal was that our founding fathers didn’t enact laws to provide health care or any other type of benefit except for the common defense of the entire country. Back then if you didn’t work, you didn’t eat. PERIOD.

He’s voting for cloture and telling us that it’s going to pressure red state democrats into voting to repeal Obamacare.

Arlen Toomey doesn’t have a conseravitve principle in his bones. What pisses me off about Arlen, besides jumping on the gun control band wagon with Chuckie Schumer, is that he doesn’t stand for anything. He doesn’t make the argument for conservative issues. He doesn’t attack progressive ideas. He is just content with being buddies with Bozo Casey and not making any waves.

I strongly suspect that the slime bags in the senate have come up with yet another strategy to make it look like they are voting along with their constituents while doing just the opposite. I trust toomey not!
I couldn’t get through to his office. It is geting hit hard.
