The political operative who brought former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin onto the national political stage as Sen. John McCain's 2008 vice presidential running mate now says he has “deep regret” about doing creating the “freak show that's been running wild for four years” in the Republican Party.
Steve Schmidt was running McCain's presidential race when he helped convince the GOP nominee that bringing in a fresh, conservative face like Palin would be a game changer in a race being dominated by Democrat Barack Obama. The results proved disastrous for McCain.
Palin became a leader of what Schmidt called an “asininity” wing of the Republican Party, hardcore conservatives looking to purge the party of moderates and anyone willing to compromise with Democrats.
“For the last couple of years, we’ve had this wing of the party running roughshod over the rest of the party,” Schmidt said on MSNBC. “Tossing out terms like RINO, saying we’re going to purge, you know, the moderates out of the party.
“We’ve lost five U.S. Senate seats over the last two election cycles,” he said. “And fundamentally we need Republicans, whether they’re running for president, whether they’re in the leadership of the Congress, to stand up against a lot of this asininity.”

That’s weird, McCain credits Palin with the total turnaround of his campaign and jump in the polls.
They have chosen to make their livings from the enemy. Both consulted on "Game Change" and both are "contributors" on MSNBC where they trash Republicans everyday.
Put another way, I would be extremely suspect of any "Republican" who hired either of those two scumbags.

Instead, she got thrust upon the national scene before she was entirely ready, and then the scumbag liberals exploited Alaska's ethics laws which require a public official to pay for their own legal defense bills, essentially forcing her from office (will also acknowledge that the large sums of money being thrown at her in conjunction with this helped make the decision to resign; doubt she would have resigned just on the money alone). Like Dan Quayle, unless she seeks lower political office to rehabilitate herself politically, she will never be a credible presidential candidate.
What a tragic loss for our nation.
If you're referring to Dan Quayle, Quayle was a very good U.S. Senator who, like Palin, was tapped on the shoulder too early. He made unfortunate gaffes that allowed him to be depicted as a dunce. From the V.P. chair, not a lot that can be done to overcome that. After leaving office, he could have easily become governor of Indiana or Arizona, but chose not to do that. When he ran for the nomination in 1996, he was considered a joke candidate.
Both need to re-build their political reputations to overcome (false) media narratives about them. Where am I wrong?

I totally disagree.
Palin may, or may not, run in 2016.
But she was not the problem. The GOP has (badly) handled both of the recent elections.
It seems to be she is tending toward staying with her kids in 2014.
However I think we might be seeing much more of Sarah Palin in 2016, and beyond.
I hope you’re right.
