Republican tensions grew Thursday as Tea Party-aligned senators rejected a bid to speed up the vote on a bill to fund the government while defunding ObamaCare, with one senior lawmaker accusing his colleagues of posturing -- as the chances of a government shutdown increased.
The flurry of activity occurred late Thursday afternoon on the Senate floor. With lawmakers facing a Sept. 30 deadline to pass a spending bill, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tried to get approval to hold key votes on Thursday, in order to give the House more time to consider the legislation.
But Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, objected, along with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. That puts off the next vote until Friday.
Their complaints prompted a tense encounter on the floor with Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., who suggested the only reason they want to wait until Friday is because they want to turn the vote into a show for supporters.
"This is confusing to me," Corker said. "I'm understanding the reason we're waiting is that y'all have sent out releases and emails and you want everybody to be able to watch. It just doesn't seem to me that that's in our nation's interest."
Cruz later said: "I think it is unfortunate that any member of the United States Senate should want our votes to occur outside of the view of the American people."

Dang. I’m not a Mormon, your one must be Obama.
A vote “for” cloture ends debate? At this point Harry Reid would only need a simple majority to pass the CR w/Obozocare funding?
Could one of you help me understand this vote?
... and conservatives for not consolidating their vote around a single candidate. Plenty of blame to go around.
Anyone bringing Romney into an Obamacare must be a closet Obama supporter.
#3 is spot on
- I saw a paid DNC operative on TV two weeks ago bragging about he and other professional leftists are daily lurking on Free Republic to divert, distort, and create and encourage dissent and division among conservatives in a manner reminiscent of Genghis Khan.
- Now I cannot go on one FR thread without seeing comments that the 2012 Republican candidate would be worse than Obama is now.
- Fortunately for me I will not and I cannot be crushed by their pet golfer/peace prize in chief.
- For those who will soon be stomped into the dirt and think they know all the answers while sitting in their armchairs - the enemy publicly admits they are within the walls.....

So those downstream in the health care industry are unavoidably enveloped through annexation of the insurance market-- a political backdoor into full control by government affecting every single inhabitant. Critically this is only their entree into further intrusions and trampling of individual liberties which they don't really believe in anyway and seek to annihilate. How very totalitarian.
Of course selling this takeover was and is easier through emotional appeals to the compassionate bestowing of otherwise denied healthcare. Lies! Let's revisit the most common description of this activity (lifted from merriam-webster):
so·cial·ism noun \ˈsō-shə-ˌli-zəm\ : a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies.
Is there any doubt about what is going on here? Lots of talk about how hard it is to shed large government programs once implemented. And why is that? Might it be because the expanding government monster, forcibly gorging on our prosperity, is loathe to relinquish their predominance?
Hope so... Obamacare, just like it’s namesake, will only damage this country, and our healthcare system even further.
So, I guess that means you will be voting for Christy?
Why not take the final step to side with McCain and his ilk and simply expel anyone with ANY standards whatsoever from YOUR party, FRiend?
Or could it be that you need their vote, if not their actual support?
Kind of like certain ethnic voters and the dems, seems to me...
Stunning arrogance.
Next step: "In the nation's interest, we are now closing all visibility to lawmaking. We will let you know what laws are when we are ready to let you know."
Sorry, but those “purists” warned you time and again what the consequences of selecting Romney would be.
you called their bluff.
They weren’t bluffing.
And now it’s their fault you and your ilk were too stupid to listen to their earnest warnings.
Typical. And so very liberal.
THAT would be amazing... but let’s PRAY that he HOLDS THE LINE. LET’s BURN UP HIS PHONE LINE WITH ENCOURAGEMENT!
Ted Cruz Ping!
if you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
Amen to that!
If you haven’t heard the election is over. Your candidate won.
