Cruz is the only guy in years who has had the brass ones to do something as bold as what he did on the floor of the Senate.
It wasn’t a historic event, except that it was the first time in years that a Republican actually stood up and took a stand nobody could mischaracterize as really the Democrat position anyway.
It was bold. It was crystal clear. It focused light on the issue. I set him (and the Republican party too, if it would only grasp and accept and think him for it) apart. It said, this is what I think. This is what the right path is. My path is different, and I will stick to my guns.
Refreshing.
So what do the Republitards do? (And I’m sorry folks, but I don’t know how else to address it. Some of you won’t like that term, but it expresses exactly what needs to be said here.) They fault Cruz on style, on posturing, on non conformance, on lack of cordiality.
Seriously? We’ve got the first chance at taking on the Democrats head on, and so the carping begins.
We have all the unity of 500 cats in a five by five foot room and six mice between them.
The Republican party is the party that couldn’t shoot straight. It should be played by Don Knotts. It’s theme song should be ‘the Old Gray Mare Ain’t What She Used to Be’. It’s symbol should be the pink submarine. It’s mascot should be a skunk. It’s embarrassing when folks ask me what party I’m in. They don’t even bother to debate it with you. They just laugh. And deep inside, you know they should be laughing.
We’ve run Dole, Bush, Bush, McCAin, and Romney. Hell, I’m laughing, when I’m not crying.
Cruz was brilliant. He was so brilliant the party knows not what to do. He has garnered the party tons of support, and the leadership is to fricken stupid to know what to do with it.
“Hey Lou, what do you do with all this support?” “Well Bill, we’ve lost the policy on that. Perhaps we’ll write a new one if we get around to it.”
They won’t. Count on it.
I’ve had people ask if I’m republican or democrat...I look ‘em straight in the eyes and say, “I’m CONSERVATIVE!!!!!”
Clap! Clap! Clap!
(Standing ovation)
I would wish the gop luck, but let’s face it: they wouldn’t know what to do with it.
