Malcolm X. Blvd. Is that like MLK Jr. Blvd, but on steroids?

Malcolm X. Blvd. Is that like MLK Jr. Blvd, but on steroids?
**************************
I have great-greats and grands buried at Oakland Cem. in Dallas, which is where many of the early founders and city elite were also buried.

I was last there in 2002, but street names had been changed from Oakland and Grand (intersection) to Malcolm X and MLK. At 10am, there were hookers walking the street and drunks or druggies just hanging out.

Caretaker of the cemetery said he always carried a hand gun when mowing, in the office or doing other maintenance.

Sad, as that used to be a prime area of Dallas in the early to mid-1900s. White flight then took place as the blacks moved in via ‘block busters’ (the scheme to move blacks into white neighborhoods). That flight led to the development of Richardson and Plano, just North of Dallas.

Sorry about nattering on, but memories were triggered.
